I really hope Tia and Maxim don't have to leave. I find George really annoying. My kids just kill themselves laughing at him. And then they vote for him. They keep going I love that old man. Stacey the Goddess is going to be on the cover of STUFF magazine next week. I want to see Carrie-Anne and Bruno dance a Samba. The huge fight practicing for the group dance really wasn't all that exciting. Drew getting whacked in the face was at least a little bit entertaining. His poor partner felt really bad and was highly embarrassed!

I've heard a lot about this show but I finally caught a few minutes last night so I stopped in here today. Limey, your brother is correct. She grew up dancing, was a Ravens cheerleader, became a Nitro Girl, then had her contract bought out when the WWE bought the WCW (I used to work in Baltimore medial and she's originally from Towson). I don't know the whole history of the show, but it seems pretty unfair to everyone else to allow someone who essentially a professional dancer to participate.
Having said that, Drew Lachey is completely adorable. I also think Tia looks just beautiful.

I think George should be the next to go, but Tia will be the next to go. George is funny and charming, but doesn't seem to be progressing much in the dance department. Tia/Maksim's choreography didn't do them any favors, either. Too much standing around at the beginning of the routine.
Stacey is beautiful and technically a good dancer, but she does nothing for me. I can't help but love Lisa's enthusiasm and work ethic--same for Jerry.
Drew is my boy, though. Great dancer AND performer. Loved that he wore spats a couple of weeks ago for the jive.

I really don't like the music choices on this show. Doing a Pasa Doble to Thriller and a Samba to a disco song? I don't know, the music just seems so cheesy to me.
Is this how it is in real Ballroom dance competitions? Or do they usually use more traditional music?
I'd probably enjoy the show a lot more if I wasn't cringing at the bad cover songs.

I just like to look at the crazy costumes. More than half of them are completely unflattering to the women.

Hee, don't get me started on the costumes. I can just see the designer thinking "Hmmm, what does this outfit need? Oh, I know! More Ruffles! And fringe! You can never have enough fringe! Fabulous!"

snarkypotato - I've competed in ballroom before and I have to tell you that this show drives me nuts. The musical choices at the competitions that I've been to may feature popular/well known songs but at least the music fits the dance. These don't seem to fit at all.
Plus these are all choreographed to songs that the dancers have practiced to & are expecting to hear. In a real competition, you have no idea what they're going to play.

I agree about how the songs don't fit the prescribed rhythm (is that what you call it in ballroom?). If they want the dancers to dance to Aerosmith, fine, but don't call it a waltz!

I'll admit it - I tried to call in to vote for Drew last night. I couldnt' get through, but I tried. He did an outstanding job, and actually seemed like he CARED about winning. Stacy SO phoned in her last performance. What a cheeseball piece of nothing. Jerry deserves big props for trying, but if Drew doesn't win, he's been robbed. There's no comparison between him and the other two. And the chemistry between him and his partner was strong enough last night that I think his very pregnant wife better keep an eye on him ...
