Well, that's it then. I'm glad Michael won; I liked Michael a little better than Ralph. He seemed more innovative. I guess that made up for his mistakes during service. That and his 94% return rating. I think he chose wisely by going to London for the apprenticeship.
I swear this two-hour episode had maybe 70 minutes of material; it was so padded with previouslies and reshowing the scenes after commercial breaks.
I am ashamed to say that the previews from last week fooled me. I really thought Michael was yelling at Ralph. I should have realized that he was just doing an impression of GR.

Yea!, So smart to take the London job over the restaurant.
I think you could have tell who had one becasue when they shot at the door, Ralph had his hands down by his side.

So glad that Michael won. He became my favorite early on with his creepy midnight ramblings and the way he would talk to the big billboard of Gordon Ramsay. His food was (at least according to what we saw) consistently better than Ralph's by a pretty large margin. You could tell he had a way to go before he was fully prepared to run his own kitchen and I was afraid that Ralph's superior people skills might trump food preparation (especially when the result was so close).
One thing that was pretty awesome about this show was how Gordon Ramsay really did go from being a dick to encouraging and helping the contestants. I think you could tell he was really proud of the last four(ish) contestants. He never really let up in the kitchen but you knew when he praised someone, the praise was well earned and genuine. I went from being annoyed by Ramsay to really liking him. Good old reality television!

I loved when Michael left the crab out of the risotto, making Ralph look bad. Sweet!

It can't compare to Top Chef, but it will be nice to have something in the interim until the new season starts again. I prefer Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares to Hells Kitchen. The former begins with new episodes on May 31st, on BBC America.

"Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares" is great stuff. I loved the episode (may have been the pilot) where a chef serves him rotten meat and Ramsay runs outside and spits it everywhere, cursing up and down, and the chef just stands there blankly like, "Huh? What?" And then Ramsay made the chef taste the meat too and he still looked blank and kind of mumbled, "Uh yeah. Erm, rotten. It is rotten. Uhh." It was just hilarious. (On the other hand, it does make me a little nervous to think that kind of stuff goes in in restaurants where I eat.)
I like "Hell's Kitchen" too although I do think he can be a mean bastard for absolutely no reason sometimes, which does suck for the contestants who didn't really do anything wrong.

It certainly makes for great tv, though.
