Curiouser and curiouser:
Amy spent 14 months in Federal prison for fraud (tried to get credit using someone else's social security number). Samy spent 13 months in prison in Israel. And Uncle Sam has been trying to deport him for two years. Yep, national television was a GREAT idea.

Man, this is amazing. The press conference got cancelled because they claimed to have received "hundreds of death threats" including people threatening to murder her cats "who as everyone knows are like children to her." Then the PR firm (some infamous bottom feeder firm) dumped them as clients. I don't know if the Grand Opening went ahead or not but I saw a bunch of people on Twitter talking about their invitations being rescinded.
Eta - apparently it did go ahead but with few people attending, and they monitored the guests to make sure no one from the media got it.

I read somewhere that it looked like the customers at the "Grand Re-Opening" were their friends. I also saw an article that said that one of the requirements for being hired during their Job Fair was that they couldn't have seen their HK episode. Heh.
I don't doubt they got some death threats (although not "hundreds"), because there are crazy people on the interwebs who do that sort of thing on a regular basis. I would guess their press conference was cancelled not because of that, though, but because their PR firm dumped their wacko butts.

Apparently, they cancelled the press conference because the TV producers sent them a cease and desist letter.

And it keeps getting more and more strange: The husband might be deported in the near future.

His court appearance was the same day as the re-opening. They local TV crews were on hand to interview him and he was just as fowl-mouthed as he was on the show. These two are real pieces of work. The food I heard was sub-par and those that really "liked" it were people that have always supported them, stopped to take photos with the two or Samy and were not providing an unbiased opinion. Ah, just as I predicted. Shams! But remember, they were the victims of online bullying after they insulted and name-called a Yelp reviewer and began to bully him. But at least the cats are now free. /parody

Spinderella, your icon is terrifying.
And considering his situation, going on KN was a moronic move- but with their delusional habits it's not surprising.

I think I'll need to change it back or to something else now that their 15-minutes has dried up. The "Grand" re-opening was just as I predicted and turned into a week-long event that didn't really go anywhere. They still produced the same results in regards to food quality and wait and those that praised them were pegged as obvious plants. Shocker! I don't see how they'll get any sort of reality show for this. People don't like to reward mean, crazy and criminal...do they? Or maybe???
