It's unclear. I'm not convinced that Felicia was in on it, but I think the jailed robber may be painted as sympathetic. He kept asking how Eva was when he was being put into the squad car, and I think one of the women (Lizzie?) may have yelled at the police not to shoot him. So I'm guessing he trying to prevent his brother from doing nasty things.

It could be as simple (and semi-innocent) as Felicia wanting to talk to the robber to find out why he "looked familiar" to her when she was looking at mugshots. Or she may honestly be trying to get back some of her "lost" memories of the hostage-taking incident.
Or not. I'm betting on "not".

I'll be the one person who didn't care for this show so much. I thought the beginning was so over-directed and cheesy --- ohhhh, shaky cam! Grainy blue flashbacks! Incredibly slow motion when Tim Daly punched that dude. And seriously, the "it's better than Lost" thing from the critics is ridiculous after a pilot. Lost had an amazing pilot - so did Alias - both were movie quality (and the critics flipped out over each). That's the easy thing, it's the sustaining it that's hard. The twist didn't do much for me, either, as it was kinda very telegraphed. The jailed robber is hot. I did like Threshold, though, so I've got that going for me.

I think so too. Obviously he must have done something not-so-bad in the bank, because Lizzy (it's Lizzy, right?) was yelling at the SWAT team not to shoot him. In fact, I'd go so far to say that, since Eva's dead, he's one of the Nine, not her.

In fact, I'd go so far to say that, since Eva's dead, he's one of the Nine, not her. That makes sense. (On ABC's site, he is pictured with the 8 hostages under the show's title, so he must be part of the group.) I just watched the show on ABC.com and will try to watch it when it airs regularly. But Wednesday is a tough night. I hope ABC keeps putting the full episodes on the site.

Tim Daly is one sexy bitch. I cannot believe he's 50. I'd totally hit that.

Careful, some of us 50-year-olds surprised ourselves and got sensitive about it... Just kiddin'. So... CTV is showing the episodes almost a week after ABC does? Typical. If I recall correctly, they did that with LOST, too, and had to have marathon catch-up sessions on Saturday nights. It kills me that nonprofessionals like us can identify hot new shows yet professionals at Canadian networks, whose job is to, like, spot the buzz early, can be so oblivious. It surprises me in no way whatsoever, though. I agree wholeheartedly that "superior!" comparisons to LOST, especially after just one episode, are foolish. But it's understandable given the meandering route LOST took in Season Two. This season's opener was interesting for, oh, the first ten minutes. Then it, predictably, hit quicksand the moment the Jack-backs started. And I'll admit to having high hopes for The Nine, probably higher than the show can sustain. I can forgive cliched flourishes -- which fall far short of "hackery", even if they are trite -- if the story propels forward with enough momentum. Time will tell, obviously. Is Bailey, like, four feet tall? I mean, some of my best friends are wee but, geez.

For the Canadians: CTV did show last week's show at 8 tonight but then they showed the new episode at 9. I guess they are trying to catch up, it seems like they will be airing the episodes a day ahead of ABC.
