I love this show too. I used to watch it with my mother. We catch it in reruns when we can.
The actors definitely are all excellent. It's so hard to pick a fav but Judi Dench is probably who I'd choose in a pinch

It's a great show. The recap episode isn't that great, but I loved all the other episodes. It's Dench and Palmer that make it.
The actor who plays Alistair is currently on Coronation Street. His character is having an affair with Sally (if you know the show, you'd know that she has a great many affairs).
His character is much less charming but he still looks good.

Love this as well. I was thrilled to discover my local PBS is running it, but only on Thursday evenings apparently, when I have class. (I know I could tape it, but I've seen all the eps already, and it's not the same as turning on your TV and discovering it for some reason).
I love the episode where they think Lionel has a hearing problem. Then the girls do all sorts of things to test his earing. Then Jean stands across the room and mouths the words without saying anything because she wants to be right. "Oh now, really!"
