I've come the conclusion that the reason I appreciate British T.V. so much is that, and perhaps this is a benefit of the shortened series, they are willing to take a ton of risks that wouldn't necessarily fly in America (on paper). I mean, even on the SciFi channel I doubt that Hex would've made it off the script, and that's some of the best trashy TV ever!
I will say that I was excited for, but couldn't get into Whitechapel. I like a lot of the actors in it, but overall I was bored. I also felt the same way about Bedlam. I wanted to like it, but the pilot was really dull.
Right now, the show I can't wait for is the 2nd season of Sherlock. I think the actors are awesome in it, and I'm a sucker for Stephen Moffatt and Mark Gatiss.

kateln, have you seen " A History of Horror with Mark Gatiss"? It's quite entertaining. I must recuse myself from critique because I think Gatiss is supergingerhot, a fact confirmed by a friend in England who had the opportunity to date him years ago but turned him down because his "League of Gentlemen" characters were so creepy. He's so kicking himself now.
