I was expecting the camera to pan back and show the map dotted with dozens and dozens of red pins, esp. along the East and West coasts, with maybe some red pin-free zones in the Midwest, where Jericho is.
Or maybe do a skip-edit showing the red pin box get emptier and emptier until the guy reaches in for yet another one, and it's empty.

I watching the show then my wife sits down and puts on ANTM so I miss the last 5 minutes. I saw up to the black box listening party.

I watched it for the first time so I don't have the names down, but after Jake played Emily(? the blonde) the message that her fiance's plane was OK, we saw Hawkins building a secret room in his house, the curly-haired brunette and the bearded (but non Gerald McRaney) guy in bed, most of the townspeople having a big bbq with the food that was about to spoil from the store owned by the woman from Speed, and the geeky high schooler found the train shipment that was bound for his mom's store.

His mom's store? Were there two grocery stores? (Obviously, in a town of that size, there would be, but in TV Land, any small town - even one with 5,000 people - usually has one general store where everyone shops.)
It's too new for me to know everyone's names and keep everyone apart in my brain. The geeky teen's mother died in Atlanta; was the older brunette woman working for his mom? Colour me confused.
I'm glad they cooked and ate all the perishable food, because that's what I kept thinking they should do. Although it's only been 2 days since the power went out, and a closed freezer that is full can keep food frozen for up to a week without power (if it's kept closed).

Does no one in a town that probably has a decent turnout at hunting season know how to smoke or preserve meat? That bbq really bugged. Not to mention all the lights that were left on AFTER the party. These people need to wise up fast.
I am enjoying this, though, despite all the nitpicks. I've always loved post-apocolyptic stories.

Just because people are from a small town, does not mean they hunt. I'm on a farm, and most of the hunter who knock on our door asking for permission to hunt on our property are from Toronto.
Plus, most hunters I do know just have their meat butchered by a certified butcher and frozen.

I watched the first episode, but I missed this week's. I was watching Top Model. But I live in Chicago and according to the show, I'm dead too.

I starting to dislike it. Emily is becoming one of those annoying "I'm coming with you" women. And unless Skeet killed and raped her family and dog - knock it off with the bitchiness.
The mayor and other son were asshats in this episode.

Yeah, but in a town that size, in that location, the odds that SOMEONE somewhere knows how to preserve meat are pretty good. And even if someone doesn't, surely there's some book somewhere in town that would show them how to do it.
Why just yesterday, Good Eats was showing how to smoke salmon! Not that they'd see Good Eats in Jericho, at least not anymore....
