I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't think he's the sex, but I don't find him vile either. I do think he should take a break for a long while.Stay out of the limelight, relax and spend some money. I don't think he understands just how much Bennifer got under the public's skin.

Eonline is reporting that he's going to direct a movie Gone, Baby, Gone based on a Dennis Lehane novel. This worries me...I know he co-wrote Good Will Hunting but I can't see this movie going well, I think he'll be too desperate and looking for an Oscar and trying to be all "Benny from the Block, keeping it real!" directing a movie set in Baaahhhstin.
I remember 5 or so years ago when I first started college, my roommates and I were discussing Affleck vs Damon, and we pretty much all picked Affleck. Remember how cute and funny he seemed? I can't believe how far he's fallen.

He usually looks like a drunken, over aged frat-boy. Though I admit that at one point in time, Jennifer Lopez had him tarted up pretty decently. That's the only good thing JHo has ever done in her entire life. True, she made him clean up and look decent, fashion-wise. But on the other hand, I'd swear it was her who coached him on that "tough guy" look he was sporting for awhile -- The one with the clenched jaw, lower lip kind of skewed to one side in a half-assed sneer, and almost glaring into the camera. I could also picture her standing next to him in front of a mirror saying, "You almost got it, sweetie! Add just a little bit of a squint! And you're tending to over-exaggerate the sneer! We're looking for an ambiguous suggestion of a sneer! There you go, honey! You got it! Now do that in every single cover shoot from now on!" (I think once they broke off, he dropped the "tough guy" look, which reinforces my opinion that she's the one who trained him in it.)

I'll admit to a crush on him in Pearl Harbor. However, I was teaching 10th grade history at the time and watched it 3 times a day for a week...I was clearly brainwashed.
Yayyyyyy!!!!!!!! Fwee Stahs!!

Word. Hoho was the one who ordered he dump David Pollock, his manager who didn't want him to participate in Hoho's music video "Jenny From The Block." After sacking him he hired the asinine named Ken Sunshine (I'd kill myself if I were cursed with such a name) and it went downhill. In my opinion Pollock gave him valuable honest down to earth advice and Ken Sunshine doesn't. David was doing all the right stuff and reining his more impulsive behavior, and Sunshine seems to be a passive enabler. Garner is dating Affleck possibly to look like the good girl even more.

On paper Garner and Affleck are the publicity perfect couple, which is probably why they are doing it. She needed to go from cult-tv star to household name and he needed to look better after the JLo debacle. So she gets attention and he gets attached to a good girl.
Yet rather unfortunately, it didn't play out that way and they both look worse. That's Hollywood for you.

SmartChick, that's the most concise take on the Bennifer II situation I've read anywhere.
I really think HasBen has comeback potential, 5 or 10 years down the road...if he goes to a thingie, and then drops out of sight.
He can emerge as a more mature, ruggedly handsome* leading man. Hopefully clutching a good script. Ghostwritten by Matt Damon. And sporting better hairplugs.
* I know, it's not a popular opinion. But I'd still do that man, and that shows just how unpopular I'm willing to be.

I can't believe how far he's fallen. I read, albeit a couple of years ago, that Affleck typed the rough script for Damon, using some of his personal experiences for the script. The script then had to be redone by a professional to get it where it would be considered by anyone. Considering that nothing has been done since by them, I find that extremely plausible. Now, I do give Affleck kudos for his campaigning style. He does that very well, makes me forget what a lousey actor he is on screen.

Exactly. America LOVES a comeback story. That would work better than dating another actress. He should go (quietly) into rehab again for more than two weeks. Then when he comes out wait a few years before doing another movie. Live in that Georgia mansion for awhile. It would work, it really would.
