Anyone watch this? I thought it was a horrible rip off of The Amazing Race.
The worst? The Miss USA girls who felt that everyone should be doing the work for them and their good idea to withhold flirting as a last resort to getting other teams to help them.
And thanks to the Brown team, I actually thought I'd witness the first reality show death as they climbed their way up Mt. Rushmore.

I watched it last night, and agree that it was a lot like the Amazing Race, but I did enjoy the show, and will give it another go next Monday.
I'm actually pulling for the Brown team - they all seemed pretty cool. The Miss USA ones can kiss my un-Miss USA ass for those comments. Ugh.

I thought the first hour was dull, but the second hour was great! I'll for sure watch the next episode - the clues are a good level of difficulty, I think, although I had my doubts during the first episode when the Alaska teams could just name everything on the map until they hit on the right answer, rather than actually solving the puzzle.
Miss USA and the grad students are both annoying, although maybe only one of the teams is bugging me and I just can't tell them apart. I loved that the 'genius' team couldn't figure out the combination when they had just finished giving the right answer to the hillbilly team. I'm pretty sure if they hadn't, the hillbillies would still be out there, randomly multiplying numbers together!
And of course they included the reality show cliche of the Black guy who can't swim.

I liked it better than the last few seasons of the Amazing Race. I thought it was really interesting, and the clues actually rely on being able to solve puzzles. Unless you're the Genius, where you outthink yourself.
I already hate Team Miss USA and the Fogals. The mother is a shrill harpy, and I would have tried to drown the father when he stuck his hand in the clue box I dove down for.

Oh, man. I was totally convinced that guy was either going to drown or have a heart attack climbing up the mountain.
I agree that this felt like a low-rent The Amazing Race. I liked that the tasks were more involved than "Go here, wait for building to open, then get clue from charming local" - which seems to be what TAR has devolved into. But TAR has far, far better production values, and Phil could kick this host's butt with the pop of one eyebrow. I didn't even catch the guy's name.
But this will serve as nice filler. I don't have any real opinions on the teams yet other than I laughed that the "geniuses" couldn't figure anything out, because they were "too smart" and the fact that I prayed that the poor Guy from Team Brown wouldn't die (and I did like how they were the first to figure out the Mt. Rushmore clue along with the Beauty Queens).
And oh yeah - I would have grabbed the Good Reverend Fogal and pinned him under a rock on the bottom of the sea if he stole my clue like that.

For real. Who IS he? He looks like a refugee from Asskiss Hollywood or ET.
Also, good luck to all those using the Motorola RAZR phones. They'll spend half the game wiping off their faceprints from the menu screen. (Piece of crap phone!)
But yes, I'll be watching again next week. It's bad, but not unwatchable.

Heh. I actually like my RAZR, but I do wish they could have smudge-proofed the screen somehow so I don't feel like I've just created an oil slick everytime I use the phone.
Somehow the product placement on this show doesn't bother me like it does on TAR. I guess because they started doing it right out of the gate, and TAR started out pure to me and only recently has been sullied by stupid product placements and obnoxious contestants.

I kinda liked it. I've been getting disillusioned with TAR & welcome a show that makes the contestants think.
TAR has girls like the Miss USA's every blessed time, I'm so sick of that.
Is the host a robot? Is he foreign & speaking English phonetically? He's irritating. He's sure no Phil.

I liked it. I'm a sucka for anything with Mount Rushmore in it. I also liked National Treasure and it seemed to follow that pretty closely.
I have watched TAR on and off but am not a huge fan of the show.

I. Hate. The. Host. And. The. Way. He. Talks. Makes. Me. Want. To. Pull. My. Hair. out.
Seriously it drives me crazy and the fact that the clues are repeated over and over again. I found myself muting my TV everytime the robot host repeated the clue.
I'm still going to continue watching, though. Even if, I admit to being an Amazing Race fan, as well as a fan of Phil and his beautiful eyebrows. Now, that's a host.
