The Dateline "sting" was awesome. As was Jack's remark that his relationship with Condi was 'filthy.'
I love this show.

I love this show too. It consistently cracks me up, and not a lot of shows do that.
I also loved the Dateline sting, and I'm so glad they gave Liz a reason to dump him again. It explained the philosophy he explained to Jack that most 22 year olds are actually 16, but the killer was that he was one of those guys who doesn't even pretend to have come to the house for different reasons ("I'm here to do this chick."). And I loved how he was screaming that he thought she was 22 and yet, he came in with balloons. That was just 10 kinds of wrong.
And I loved Jack seething while watching Condi Rice and Putin on the news.

So smart, so funny, so silly. This is really a fantastic show.
I saw the very beginning of the Rock Center Christmas Spectacular, and the cast from 30 Rock opened it. Jack gave Liz Lemon a letter opener that was once owned by Virginia Woolf, because "she was a weird lady writer, like you." I howled.

"Are you black?" Tracey's delivery of that line had me on the floor. Great episode.

That's the other thing - I usually find Tracy Morgan extremely annoying. I didn't think he was all that great on SNL, but he always cracks me up on this show. Tina Fey and her writers seem to know exactly what to do with him.
And I love seeing Rachel Dratch play someone new every week.

kostgard, I totally agree with you on the Tracy Morgan thing. Aside from the "Brian Fellow" bits, I always find him pretty one-note, but he is hilarious on this show. Love the dynamic, and the lack of laugh track is excellent. Good episode.

"You're at a funeral"- Jack & Condi. were a scream Sorry they broke up.
I have to say I didn't get the Star Jones skit being "funny". I love to loathe her but having the apparent punchline be the projectile vomiting, I don't know, I thought it was extremely lame. I couldn't buy anybody standing there agreeing how amusing it was. Was their agreement supposed to be the funny part?

Besides Star "I rampantly deny any gastric bypass" Jones claiming that she lost it through diet and exercise when we all know in reality that she will get sick if she eats more than a pea?. I don't think the sketches are supposed to be "funny," per se. It's all about the humor behind the scenes and the characters -- over on TWoP's thread, apparently NBC has given Tina the memo to talk this up and pitch this as a workplace comedy, which it totally is. (And since I fracking went to film school for writing -- Tina's version of a writer's room? 20 times closer to truthiness than Bizarro Sorkin). Back when Alec Baldwin had that line about how "You're not artists like Pinter or Stingberg, you make jokes about the president between car commercials" (I'm paraphrasing it completely wrong, btw), it became clear to me that TPTB's goal isn't "omg, let's create fake sketches that are timely, hysterical and cause people to talk about them," but "hey, what sketches can cause the most drama in the cast?" For example, we never saw the dude's Liz Taylor impression, but we saw the awesome fallout. Here, I believe the important part isn't the sketch, exactly, but the fact that Twofer can get off his high horse and just be silly sometimes. It's about the character moment, not neccessarily the sketch. Even something potentially really stupid like the Pete Toupee thing is developed and grounded in the characters and the narrative. That said? Tracy did the BEST Star Jones impression back on SNL. It was way back, during the Lewinsky scandal. My mother and I still talk about how funny it was. "Allegedly." I know I've become a huge fan of this show when me, who doesn't care for Condi that much. sees this stupid comment by Laura Bush: And wishes that Jack Donaghy could make an honest woman out of Condi and show up Laura. Plus, you know he would totally get Liz Lemon to be Secretary of Education or something. Seriously, I read that the day after seeing the episode and was like "but, Condi is dating Jack! He supports her!" Oh, right, sleep. I encourage everyone to download the free ep, it's the poker one and the "are we or aren't we lesbian dating?" episode. "Those shoes are at least bi-curious."Alec is so, so awesome. I mean, at times, I feel he's being borderline Shatner on Boston Legal-y. But he never crosses that lines. Based on his great SNL appearances, The Departed, etc., I think he's just gotten to the point where he doesn't give a fuck and can just balls-out commit to the madness. Best Use of To Catch A Predator ever. I can't believe it was foreshadowed so well!

May she never have a self-aware moment in her life; so that she can continue to supply the funniness to us all. I thought the projectile vomiting was a ripoff an homage to the great SNL Julia Child cooking sketch with Dan Ackroyd. All that food and instead of vomiting; Dan as Julia hit an artery and had an arterial burst. I hope that Liz's Beeper Boyfriend comes back. I liked the dynamic between the two of them. But if he doesn't, I want to enjoy the next loser boyfriend that Liz picks up. And she will, if her time in the nightclub is any indication. And I liked the sly juxtapostion of Jack's girlfriend and Liz's boyfriend; they are both losers and they are both verging on criminal behavior (underage girls and warmongering). Miss Fey, you are oh so clever. Why did you write such crap on SNL?

I am loving this show more and more. I just flip it on and enjoy the ride every week because it's just plain funny. No muss, no fuss. Alec Baldwin is the best "wacky boss" since Stephen Root on NewsRadio. That is all.
