That was the best season finale I've ever seen. The first season was so perfect that I'm not sure they can even come close with season 2.
Michael C. Hall deserves an Emmy for his work. It was such a difficult character to make likeable and he did it so well.

Okay, I got another free month of crap Showtime; damn DDVR was acting up. Anyway, the good thing about it was I got to catch the season finale. Oh my Gawd!
I hate that I missed the episode leading up to the finale, but at least I got to see the best episode. Boy, the young brother and Dexter were so well cast.
Love the show. Somehow, I wished they kept the brother alive.

So, the lead developer with whom I work detailed the sequence of events which revealed to him, several episodes before the last, that "Rudy" was Dex's brother, and did I ever feel like a dork, because I'd been sucked right in to the point where it was a complete surprise when the last episode unfolded.
I blame the rich characters and stellar acting for my momentary lapse in omniscience.
Even the supporting characters that seemed a bit "off", like Doakes, were enjoyable (I liked his cartoony volatility). Debra's career-neediness was endearing and, hey, I didn't even recognize that Jennifer Carpenter was Emily Rose from that exorcism movie. Julie Benz's Rita was touchingly fragile but brought out the brass ovaries when she needed them.
This series was so good that I'm afraid Showtime can no longer be my whipping-boy (for the execrable Queer-Ass Folk)...

Early in the season, after the Ice Truck killer left clues for Dexter, I figured that it had to be Dexter's long lost or unknown brother. The clues seemed to focus on the family and seemed far too intimate to belong to anyone else. I didn't twig to the fact that Rudy was the brother until they revealed that he was the Ice Truck killer.

Gee, I had no clue, what. so. ever. that Rudy was Dexter's brother. Mind you, I didn't see the one or two episodes following the finale. Now, the questions stand, who is Dexter's father. Was he the one who murdered their mother?

I've been good and haven't peaked. I didn't want to watch in advance and then have to wait around for the tv showings to catch up.
