I commented on this in the wedding thread, but I'll do it here, too. The above statement could be said about my wedding. My in-laws (Mr.WebGirl is Indian) couldn't even agree on what parts of the ceremony came when and who should do what. They just wanted the most expensive mandap/photographer/food/liquor available so they could impress their friends. That's what 90% of weddings in the Western world (and from what I understand a lot of them in India) are really about. It sounds like his family are being jerks because they don't like her, and since the daughter-in-law is famous this family drama can play out in the tabloids rather than over Thanksgiving dinner like everyone else's.

Maybe this will warn celebs to rein in their media-baiting, over-the-top weddings: get hitched in a courthouse if ya know what's good for ya!

Eh. Man, if *anything* could make me feel for Liz Hurley! I just don't have any time for religious fundamentalists. People can get married however they want. Fundies can be offended, but bringing legal proceedings is just stupid. And wtf is his family doing going to the press?!

Is that a uniform the kid is wearing? Looks similar to some outfits I saw Prince Harry and Prince William wearing when they were kids.
