She said recently that over the last year (or two) she'd been eating nothing but junk food, and now she doesn't feel comfortable posing in a bikini any more. I think "surviving on crisps and coffee" is how she put it. I'll try and find a link. To be fair, she then followed it up plans for a detox, just to annoy everyone.

She also admitted that most of her bikini photographs are retouched and airbrushed (or maybe she meant that all celeb photos, not just hers). She might say annoying things, but she does tell it like it is and I can't help but like her even if I couldn't imagine being friends with her.

I think it'd be a blast to go out and get ripping drunk with her, but yeah, maybe not a deep friendship.

She's probably a lot different than what she projects for her work since Hugh Grant is intelligent and they were together for a long time. So I'm guessing she is also quite intelligent and just has a big problem with the silly things that she hears herself say. Maybe some drugs also? I don't know but she's not a dumbbell. I could see having a long interesting conversation with her over a cup of coffee.

With the exception of stars that build their careers on their likeability and then turn out to be bitches, see Roberts, Julie -- I don't feel upset if entertainers aren't likeable. So I don't think I'd like Elizabeth Hurley on a personal level, nor she me, but -- she's articulate, driven, takes good care of her body -- and is a good entertainer. She does her job as well as she can, seems to be driven to excell at what she does, and speaks her mind. I admire that. Do I think she's a catty, bitch, yes, but I don't care.

ITA. If only for the late-night doorknocks with Liz saying "Lick me." Hee!

From an article about Daphne du Maurier in this mornings Times:
'Elizabeth Hurley has used the pseudonym Rebecca de Winter when checking in to hotels.'
...312 why she bugs me.

I like using literary references but Rebecca de Winter is a little too obvious. It just screams "Hi, I'm a celeb checking under a pseudonym. Please notice me!"

I dunno. Considering what Rebecca was like, I'd say it's entirely appropriate.
