Did a search for it and all that came up was The Amazing Race.
I just watched it today and I laughed my ass off. My boyfriend is Muslim, and his name and his appearance are stereotypically Muslim, so I found the "townie" (although I did appreciate that it wasn't so much the townies as a small minority) reaction sadly appropriate to my/his own experience. I really, really liked that the show still would have been funny without the othering element, though. However, I appreciate that there's a show out there that ackowledges my boyfriend's problems. He just went to a conference in Boston, and nearly missed his presentation because of his name and the implications of it. I like that the show really accurately skewers how stupid our perceptions are.
Has anyone else seen it? Does anyone else hate the title? Because I think it's lame. But I think it will work out to be a very interesting show, Carlo Rota or no.

I've never heard of this show. What network is it on?

It's on CBC which is Canadian-only, but I think it's been picked up by PBS or the Game Show Network or something random like that in the States. The website has clips, though. And I think it's funny because my boyfriend's uncles are like that to a T. They tolerate me because his father likes me, if not, it would be free game.

I saw it last night. It was pretty good. I agree, the title is kind of lame.

I've seen pieces of this show and found it painfully painfully unfunny. However, the preview ad with them playing curling was cute. Otherwise, blah.

I look forward to seeing how the characters develop. Surprisingly, I'm loving Carlos Rota but that could be his deep voice and accent.

It's not a bad show. It'll find itself an audience.

It's not a bad show. It'll find itself an audience. Watched the first ep with my entire family and no one laughed. Not once. I was so hoping to like it because Carlo Rota is hot (no, really, he is), but no such luck.

The second ep was better. I think the Muslim world as a whole likes it. As far as I can tell, the reaction is - not great, but we like.
It's not being re-newed, right?

From what I have heard, it has been renewed for a second season. It is to reappeared in September, but no other details as of yet. I have liked the show, the hokey homespun nature et al and I want to be able to see it to evolve over time.
