It's mind boggling how badly Fox screwed up the publicity for this show. Drive was probably never going to be the new Lost or anything, but with the right push and maybe a summer premiere, they might have recouped some of their initial investment. Dumping the last two eppies onto myspace? Really? I wonder if this show was a victim of regime change over at Fox b/c otherwise I can't imagine why they'd handle it so poorly from the beginning. Anyway, I've just been re-watching the first episodes in anticipation of Monday [/nerd] and I have only this to say.. Nathan Fillion, where have you been all my life? No seriously, where? Because I want to go there and build a shrine to your hotness. Rawr.

Fox sucks. And IMHO, all the actors in Firefly should've known better than to do another show with that network again. Nathan Fillion, why did you willingly walk into misfortune? Yes, I know actors need jobs and he needs to eat. But I'd rather do anything with another network than with Fox, which seems to specialize in ruining perfectly good shows: Futurama, Firefly, now Drive. Can SOMEONE please put this network out of its misery so it can go the way of the WB?

But that could be a result of my Tim Minear fan status. His track Record? Firefly- 11 of 14 episodes aired; Wonderfalls = 4 of 13 episodes aired; The Inside - 7 of 13 episodes aired; Drive - 4 of 6 episodes aired. All on Fox. Makes you wonder why he tries anymore.

I'm relatively certain he had/has a development deal with Fox, meaning he had to come up with a certain number of shows, and I remember Nathan being signed to a talent deal, but I'm not sure with whom. I have to give Fox credit for at least greenlighting shows that would never get made at other networks. Can you imagine CBS doing "24", or "Firefly" ever airing on NBC?

Ah gotcha, thanks guys. I didn't know the history of Minear and Fox (I'm sure Tom Cruise does) and it makes more sense now. I remember really liking the few eppies of Firefly I saw so I think I'm gonna Netflix it, enjoy some more Nathan Fillion and loudly curse the evil ratings gods.
