I love Gunther! My favorite Gunther moment is when Rachel is by herself at the coffee shop, doing a crossword puzzle. She finishes it on her own, jumps out to announce it and then says, "aw, there's no one to hug." Next thing you know, Gunther comes running out from the back, crashes into someone and hits the ground. So hilarious.

When I catch re-runs, I definitely think the first season had a feel to it that was just different than any other season of the show, which made the first season my favorite.
I agree that the Rachel/Joey storyline didn't do much for me. And at that point in time I was watching about one episode every 2-3 weeks. I just remember thinking that it seemed a little too unconvincing and obvious that they'd throw Rachel and Joey together, kinda like that old Saturday morning teen show "California Dreams" where all the male characters at one point in the show seemed to have a crush on each and every female character on the show, and vice-versa.
I also grew weary of sitcoms where the gang always has one hangout. On this show, the coffee shop. On "Seinfeld", that ugly restaurant. Which is fairly customary for most TV shows, but I guess all the exciting locales of "Sex and the City" gave that show a new dimension and spoiled some of us in that regard.

He was the worst thing in BoB. Thank God he was only in a couple of episodes. I originally thought this, until I read the book and realized that he was perfect as Sobel. If anything, Schwimmer underplayed him.

Speaking of Jennifer Aniston not treating female guest stars well, I remember reading that Reese Witherspoon had a miserable time doing her episode because JA was so rude to her and that's why she was never on again (well, that combined with the fact that her career skyrocketed in 2001).
No kidding. That was exactly my reaction after reading the book.

She was hysterical in both (or were there more?) of her episodes. Her cat fight with Rachel was one of the highlights in the latter seasons.

I watched this show religiously from start to finish, and I've watched it so many times that I know most of the dialog by heart. It's a little sad I really love the episode where Rachel is being a bride's mate in Mindy and Barry's wedding, wearing that hilariously awful pink dress, with the ridiculous pink hat. "I look like something you drink when you're nauseous!" Chandler to Rachel: "Sorry, we don't have your sheep." There's not much I don't like about this show, obviously, but Joey and Rachel together never really seemed genuine to me. It was sweet when Joey was pining after Rachel, but it shouldn't have gone any further IMO. Brad Pitt did a wonderful job in the thanksgiving episode. All the thanksgiving episodes were so much fun. I went and found the dialog for one of my absolute favorite scenes: Monica: "And Dad, you know that mailman you got fired? He didn't steal your Playboys. Ross did!" Ross: "Yeah, well hurricane Gloria didn't break the porch swing. Monica did!" Monica: "Ross hasn't worked at the museum for a year!" Ross: "Monica and Chandler are living together!" Monica: "Ross married Rachel in Vegas and got divorced... again!" Phoebe: "I love Jacques Cousteau! Rachel: "I wasn't supposed to put beef in the trifle!" Joey: "I wanna go!" Mrs. Geller: "That's a lot of information to get in 30 seconds."

I really enjoyed Brad Pitt on his episode. He tried really hard - he also showed how snappy and quick the dialogue on the show was, because he couldn't keep up with it.

ane, I also liked that bit of dialogue you posted. I had forgotten about that exchange until now, but it was pretty funny.
I also liked the episode where Ross was dating Rebecca Romijn - she had the really messy apartment. At the end of the show, Monica goes over there and asks to clean her apartment: "Ross told me about your apartment, and well, I just couldn't sleep."

This was my favorite show ever. I got into it fairly late. Third season I think. I watched an episode grudgingly, loved it, and was hooked from then on. The episode that did it was the one where Joey says he's a dancer and goes on an auditon and somehow becomes the dance teacher. The choreographer shows him this complicated dance to teach everyone that ends with jazz hands. So Joey's dance was hilarious and it ended with everyone creeping forward and then doing an extended jazz hands. Then he took off running. I was crying I was laughing so hard and I didn't even know the characters at that point.
My favorite characters were Ross and Monica. They were so funny. Ross was my absolute favorite, and my favorite episode of all time was the routine where they went on Dick Clark. I also enjoyed whenever Monica would dress up in her fat suit and dance.
Another favorite episode was the lobster one where they show an old tape of Monica and Rachel's prom and Ross has his Mr. KOT-TER hair. When Rachel realizes that he was ready to go as her date and goes up to him and kisses him... I usually start crying. I just LOVE this!
I hated the last season with Monica and her twins. NO way would they not know they were getting twins. No way would they then name one of the twins after the birth mother. It was just creepy and really badly written.
I hated the series finale and a friend of mine forwarded me a really long fanfic that someone had written with HER version of the season ender. Rachel goes to Paris and then it picks up 3 years later with her and Emma fluent in French, everyone visits them, Monica is going crazy as a SAHM and Ross and Rachel finally end up together. It was so well written that I have substituted it in my mind for the real finale. I wish I had a copy of it because her version is TOTALLy my version in my head.
I need to buy all the seasons and be done with it.

I thought Brad Pitt sucked major ass in the Thanksgiving episode. The man cannot do comedy.
