Aww, I liked Matt and Jenny! Back in 1992, I had a bob haircut like Jenny's and I totally preferred her to the bimbo blonde girl.
I seem to remember an episode where the blonde was reunited with her long-lost mother or something, and the acting was REALLY wooden. "You are not my mother!"
BTW, I was so psyched to see a thread on this.

One episode that was rather stupid was when the Chinese character (Sam?) was sent a shipment of fortune cookies from some relative in China and she passed them out to the bunch, and one cookie was empty and she all freaked out because having no little fortune paper in your fortune cookie was an ancient Chinese curse, or some such bullshit. Even way back then I had already heard somewhere that fortune cookies were only a part of Americanized Chinese food and had nothing to do with anything out of China, so looking back on it that episode was rather surprising for a series that made a good effort to include multicultural characters.
I also remember the Jake character talking about being "Czechoslovakian". Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you either Czech or Slovakian?
Did Sly ever actually talk about sex? They always played up how smarmy and pervy he was, but wasn't it always just about making out and oogling girls legs with him? Although even with the high school aged characters the show did seem to be targetted more to the middle school age group, so I guess you couldn't expect them to get all into sex. I'm just being a persnickety, hypercritical bitch. Although now that I think about it I do vaguely remember a token very-special-episode/public service announcement about saying no to fuckin', but that was all they could say on the subject.

Is this the show who's theme song went "Surf dudes with attitudes---good vibrations!" I remember that.

I loved this show! Loved Jake and hated Kelly Packard though. She was way whiny.

Yeah - it went "Surf dudes with attitudes - kinda groovy; Laid back moods; Sky above, sand below - good vibrations, feeling mellow." At least, the first part of it did. The credits to the second season has to be one of the most cheesiest ever. I remember having crushes on both Sly and Jake. I also remember there being another dude - there was the brother, Tony, Sly, Jake, and someone else that was what I imagined Roger Barrett Patman looked like as a real person.

Oooh, Sly with his foxy vests really did something for me back then. I always remember Kelly Packard as being the fakest bass player ever. God, I miss this show.

Is this the show who's theme song went "Surf dudes with attitudes---good vibrations!" I remember that. After this thread was posted I had that damn theme song stuck in my head all last night. Don't wake me up! Don't wake me up if I'm dreamin'! California Dreamssssss! Just let me lay here in the sun! Until my dreamin's done!I guess the hard part to believe about them being in high school for the whole show was that, even though the show ran for only a little over four years, when it began the characters were clearly older than 14/15 as they would've been in their first year of high school, so they spent four years as upperclassmen, essentially. I remember Sly's cousin being cuter than this.

Funny how in the beginning it ssemed like Matt was supposed to be the hearthrob, but evetually that title went to Jake and then Matt became all geeky and clumsy.
Oh, when I watched this as a child I was happy to finally see an Asian girl on TV as one of the lead characters. Didn't happen a lot.

Sylvester Winkle! Why do I remember that? For some reason I could never get into this show that much or Hang Time even though I loved Saved by the Bell. I do remember seeing Sly on Ghost Writer one time where Ghost Writer almost disappeared if the gang couldn't solve a mystery that happened in the past.

What was the name of the teen show with the foster family with the whole ethnic rainbow of kids? I barely remember California Dreams, but for some reason Hang Time and that one are stuck in my brain.
