She's not in season 2 until the last 3 or so episodes, either.
I liked this show alot, not as much as Buffy, but it had its charms. Season 3 was my favorite overall, but the best episode ever was Smile Time. I want to hug whoever came up with Puppet Angel.

I am one of the few who preferred Angel to Buffy. Overall I just think ATS was the better show on every single level. The writing was better, the acting was better, and I absolutely LOVED the look of the show. Another plus is that they ended Angel before it had a chance to really jump the shark. Which sadly didn't happen with Buffy.
The Hyperion Hotel, Wolfram and Hart, Darla, Holtz, Sahjan, Lila/Wesley, Angel/Lyndsey, Faith, Lorne,etc.... Angel ROCKED!

I also loved Angel more than Buffy, particularly Season 2. Plus, Angel's pre-credit "dancing" in an early Season 1 episode is my "happy place." I'm so pleased David Boreanez is doing well on a solid mainstream show now.

I also preferred Angel to Buffy, especially as an overall series. Buffy just got so terrible the last few seasons, while Angel managed to keep things fresh. I didn't mind Fred, Cordelia's horrible short blond streaked hair bugged me a lot more. I liked that whenever I thought the show was going downhill (Pylea, Connor, WR&H takeover), it just made things better.

I flooooved Angel! I wasn't much of a fan of the Cordy/Angel pairing and DO.NOT get me started on the Fred love, but overall, I thought it was awesome. I was pretty meh about Wesley, but I can't deny the fact that Wes/Lila were hella' hot! And I even enjoyed Darla's redemption arc. JB did an amazing job with that storyline. And as a huge Buffy/Angel fan (sorry, but I can't help but love 'em), I Will Remeber You always bring out the waterworks.

I'm watching Season 4 now and, yeah, put me in the group that prefers Angel to Buffy, overall. I love the character of Angel, which shocked me at first since I really wasn't that attached to him while he was on Buffy. He turned out to be my favorite character out of the whole Whedonverse. Fred annoyed me before, but now that I'm seeing the series again, she's fine. Heck, she was the only female other than Cordelia in the group and those guys never went anywhere, so I could see why they both liked her (although the cutesy scenes with Gunn are still 'meh' to me). I also thought that Illyria kicked all sorts of ass. Your happy place! He looks so pleased with himself.

Hee! Angel's dancing was cute, but Wesley's was scrumtrelescent! If I ruled some stupid semi-celebrity competitive dancing show, I'd team him with Elaine Benes and all other stupid celebrity competitive shows of any kind would weep and slink away forever!
And the world would be a better place.

Your avatar makes me so happy, Auron.
I wasn't really that into the character of Angel on Buffy either, and I had a hard time getting into ATS during the first season, but once they let him stop being so gloomy and boring and start letting a little of David come through, I loved it. Goofy Angel is the best ever.
I love that he could never figure out how to use his voicemail.
