I think it would be an interesting twist if the future kids - or one of them -are (biologically) Robin and Barney's whom Ted adopts. They kinda raised the possibility of Ted being ready for fatherhood with the ridiculous bro-parenting subplot and then the HIMYM aspect becomes more interesting. (I adopted you and raised you for a bit on my own but then let me tell you how I met the woman I married.)
I wonder if Ted's future wife is dead. That could explain why he keeps telling this story to his kids.
I kinda hafta give the writers grudging credit for not forcing pregnancy subplots on the actresses last season, when they were both actually pregnant IRL and developing the plot so that it makes a degree of sense that Lilly and Marshall are ready for kids now but weren't then.
I get and agree with a lot of the criticisms of the current season. It seems like they don't know what to do with Penn - and, to his credit, it's hard to become part of a comic ensemble that's been working as a foursome for so long.
I don't think I mentioned it back then and it might have been more impactful because I lost my mom (who I made a fan of the show) right before the arc began, but Segal's work was absolutely flawless dealing with the death of Marshall's dad. I thought the writers and the show handled it really well overall.

I actually yelled, "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" at the T.V. when Robin dropped the pg bomb on Barney. Really, C&B, really? You're gonna go there?
If Robin and Barney end up getting married because she's pregnant, I am going to write this show off completely.

They haven't said who the father is too so it could be Kevin. The timeline is kinda screwy, they haven't said how much time had passed between when she and Barney had slept together. I would assume she would be sleeping with her boyfriend. Yet another cliche, there could be two daddies! Since Robin has been so adamantly against kids in the past and as mentioned her personal life is a mess, it would make sense for her to have an abortion but I can't see the show going that route. I smell a miscarriage coming!
Aside from Robin's hair and eyebrows, her wardrobe has been atrocious this season too. Those pants she was wearing in the last episode were terrible. As someone more clever than me noted why are they dressing her like Paula Poundstone this season?

To be fair, in one of the early season's episodes 'Not a Father's Day' (4.7) in which both Robin and Barney expressed their anti-kids views, Robin hangs on to a toddler's sock for sentimental/emotional reasons and the tag is Barney singing "Cats in the Cradle" while clutching said sock. So it wouldn't be ENTIRELY out of character that they would be reconsidering their views on kids. Especially with their closest friends settling down with marriage/suburbs/baby. I agree that Robin would have an abortion IRL but there is absolutely no way that an abortion is going to happen on a hit sitcom in network TV in 2011, least of all CBS.

Maybe Ted's kids aren't his kids at all... Maybe he's talking to Lily/Marshall and Robin/Barney's kids, and the irony is that he never had kids of his own. The year is supposed to be 2030 when he's talking to them - 19 years from now. Those kids could be anywhere from 15 to 20. If they are supposed to be Ted's kids, he's better get a move on... There's not a whole lot of time left to find a girl, date, get married and get to having these kids if they are holding to that timeline.

Spoiler for next week's episode: Here are the actors that will be playing Robin's kids in the episode (whether it will be a SagetTed-like flash-forward or dream sequence/fantasy isn't known).

Ugh, this is effin' ridiculous. Way to beat the Robyn/Barney/Ted love triangle to death. I am over this show. Happy Endings is my new young singleton show.

I'm kind of sick of all of them. They are starting to act less like Friends and more like Seinfeld to me, and the latter bunch proved to be some seriously whacked out people.

Victoria was a great girlfriend so we get this spiel from Robin going on and on about how wonderful she is and how foolish Ted was to let her go? Ted is all talk. Victoria, you should have run when you had the chance now you just got sucked into a Thelma and Louise moment and left what was sure to be a really nice guy at the altar with all his friends and family there. Classy.
I want to see how this show ends. Next season is the last one?
Robin and Barney are getting married? I don't care anymore. I'm sure that Victoria isn't the mother even with this setup.
