I do like Roger on "Sell This House", I think he's a sweet guy. But yeah, that garbage can as table is really stupid.
I hate that Ginger is constantly prancing around the job sites in stilettos. Who does that?
I also really like "Divine Design". Candace and her crew are so much fun.

I think my favourite episode of the Trademark people was where richard and his idiot brother spent the night sitting in a pickup truck, drinking beer, and fondling shotguns while they waited to see if anyone would steal from the job site. The whole thing just screamed FAAAAAAAAAKE.

Mr Arms and I love to watch Kirsty & Phil on Relocation.... and Location on Sunday nights. I don' think their shows are faked. Phil's dry little digs are hilarious. I love how the agents have to engage in psychological games with some buyers and the camera crew enjoys the battle too (I always think of them as being like The Office documentary crew). The most memorable ones for me were the mother/daughter who bought a Pub without any experience. I was sure it would be a disaster but the follow-up visit showed them to be happy and flourishing ~ so nice. Then there was a snobby couple who wanted the church ~ then ended up going off on their own and buying a wretched place completely unlike what they said they were looking for. Phil skewered them in the follow-up, they looked so bitter and uncomfortable ~ you know they wanted to refuse him entry. Ah the schadenfraude was delicious.
The other English guy ~ Andrew something ~ Mr. Fearmonger ~ he does both an English fix-up house to sell and the holiday homes ones ~ ussually set in Spain ~ always a cautionary tale ~ foolish English dreamers getting ripped off by untrustworthy foreigners! He always seems very disdainful of his clients ~ I don't think I'd like him to be my agent.
Why do English people always paint their kitchens yellow and have purple/lavender bedrooms?
Sarah Richardson is a liar ~ she always repeats her guiding principle of only having things that have a purpose in her rooms ~ but the finished product always has three times as many little tables as necessary

Ha, "ghetto" is the perfect description! I swear there was one episode where he used a bunch of cardboard boxes to replicate a bed and when it was all dressed—looked exactly like a bunch of cardboard boxes covered with sheets. There was a show on BBCAmerica I loved called Homes Under the Hammer—it was an auction show that followed the buyers of auction properties. The crappy thing about it was they revisited the homes only a couple of months after the people bought them and most of them were still in a state of disrepair. I think my favourite episode of the Trademark people was where richard and his idiot brother spent the night sitting in a pickup truck, drinking beer, and fondling shotguns while they waited to see if anyone would steal from the job site. The whole thing just screamed FAAAAAAAAAKE. Oh, speaking of fake—there was an episode where Richard's brother came back from California to help him with some remodeling. They showed the guy driving a Ford to the job site, but when he pulled up, it was some beat up Buick or something. He parked it beneath the driveway and two minutes later, the dumpster that had been at the top of the driveway came crashing into the car. So fake. So ridiculous. I never watched the show again.

I've seen with the Trademark guys and the Montelongo guys that they will be shown getting into one vehicle, like a GMC, and then immediately show them talking about where they are going while they are driving, and the vehicle they are driving has a Toyota insignia on the steering wheel. And then when they get to wherever they are going they get back out of the GMC.

I've heard all the conspiracy of fakiness of House Hunters on TWOP, but I must be stupid because I can never tell which house they'll pick. Actually, the other day a couple was looking at houses and one had three (ugly flowered) sofas sitting randomly in the living room, and the agent just tosses off that the owners will be leaving them behind, so I thought, Hmmmmm.
Sure enough, that's the house they chose. So did they lie about the sofas being left behind? If they're gonna go through all the trouble of faking these walk-throughs, why would they plop down three random sofas? Why not just put them in the backyard during filming to make it actually look like an empty house? I don't get it.

Ugh. My bubble has been burst for "House Hunters" - not that I didn't suspect the fakiness. Sometimes, I swear it looks like the "hunters" and their agents are reading from a script that's either been cued on the floors or the walls of the house. And, I'm constantly yelling at the TV, "Ever heard of Home Depot? They sell paint and carpeting! You too can decorate your own new house, assholes!"
And I adore "Divine Design". To have Candace and the guys redo anything in my house would be a little slice of heaven. Does she work with the HO's budget, or is it provided by the show?

My Mum is listing her house tomorrow. So this week has been doing the tarting up and clearing out. Thank the Lord, I'm in a different province.
So, it's new towels, pictures and Doulton put away.
She's asked if she can come stay with me if the possession date is before her new place is built...pass the Tylenol now, please.

I always got the sense that it was the homeowners' budget. I love Chico and the soft furnishings guy. I actually love all of her team. Plus, she does a terrific job -- no weird Hildi things for her, that's fo' shizzle.

My dream would to be able to hire Candace to come down here and redo any room in my house. She and her crew do some amazing stuff!
