I actually enjoyed it. I liked all of the kids and I hope that they don't end up being picked apart on the internet like other reality show contestants. I was also very happy that the little kids group did such a great job with the cooking.
The show was much better and sweeter than I thought it would be. I hope it continues like that. I am rooting for all of the kids.

I actually really liked it. But then again, I was high when I watched it, so YMMV.
The kids were cute - especially that super-cute Jimmy who left at the end of the show. The gold star was lame, lame, lame, but overall, I enjoyed it.
And it really made me happy that I'm not a kid anymore.

I hate everything about this show. It is stupid with all the "kids can run the world better than grown-ups" mentality. Bullshit. They lost their shit over cheap root beer and candy. And why do we need to force kids to be adults?
And it seems to me that it is really irresponsible of parents to turn their children over to reality TV editors. What we learn from every show ever made is that "editing" makes people look bad. And here we go. Some kids are made to look adorable and others are made to look like bitches. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but now their kids' images are fully exposed to the internet haters/critics, etc. It's a parent's job to protect their kids, not whore them.
And BTW, sobbing, homesick 8 year olds aren't entertaining, they're just sad.

Can't they be both?
I hope this show is off the air soon, and everyone won some money. I don't get why parents would do this.
One of the kids was a little off. The one who bought dark chocolate and a book?
And I loved that girl dancing for nickels. I'll never stop saying it. Funny.
"Pull up your pants. Close the door. (I forget the third) The only dance moves you need to know."

I don't really interact with little kids much, so it was interesting to see how they relate to each other.

What bothered me whenever I saw him is that I could imagine the producers loving this "weird" kid for entertainment value. I agree with mrsbowling about the editing.
I watched this with my kids and they were falling for the negative edit given to the "beauty pageant girl." Her edit turned positive at the end, however, so maybe they won't allow anyone to get hurt too bad. It still makes me queasy to see typical reality show gimmicks used on kids at all.
I liked the little one who left. Good for him for not giving in to peer pressure, especially after the other girl was applauded for staying, and if he's an actor he did an extra good job of getting his moment in the spotlight that his agent can shop around.

Oops - have to double post for second episode:
Anyone have the pleasure of seeing a few chickens get their heads chopped off? The first show last week was kind of cute, but now it's getting pretty gross. The producers encouraged the whole chicken killing thing through the council members. The kids showed that they only had canned food and eggs to eat and insisted they need protein and must kill chickens to get it. Don't eggs and beans have protein?
I'm not a vegetarian, so I won't be a hypocrite and say I'm against killing chickens, but I am against putting kids in a peer pressure situation to kill animals.
There's also the edit that Taylor is getting. I thought they laid off of her last week, but they continued to portray her as a lazy spoiled princess and you can tell she's been encouraged to play this up in her interviews. Then there's Greg, who might have some anger issues and the other kid who might not have all the lights on upstairs.
My kids love this show and now I'm forced to watch it with them every week to make sure they see things how they really are and point out how things are edited and not to judge people based on that. Ugh! How did CBS get away with this?

Eh. I hate how survivor-style shows always have to overplay the whole "we have to kill the cute widdle animal" bit. You know that most of these people eat meat outside of the show, so get over it. No one cares that lettuce screams when you pick it.

2 things bothered me hugely: 1, if they are putting up a "warning for young kids" before the chicken killing, why the hell do they have YOUNG KIDS killing chickens in person!?
2, did you notice how the little pudge Emilie who wanted to leave said "When my mom said I had to come here..." NICE. This show pisses me off.
