Anyone else watching this? It got lot of good reviews from the critics, but I thought it was a decidedly lesser version of The O.C. Still, moderately entertaining.

I watched it last night. I never watched the O.C. and found this show mildly irritating but not interesting enough to watch next week.

The ratings were really bad.

Unfortunately, it's on when I have to work, and I'm still in the Dark Ages because I don't have a Tivo only a VCR, which I gave up on because I usually forgot to set it to the right channel if I wanted to watch something, or else I forgot about watching whatever I managed to tape. I miss The O.C. though so I wish I could watch it. Then, I saw that other guy who wasn't Jesse Metcalf from John Tucker Must Die was in it even though I couldn't place him right away until I looked up GG on the IMDb, and really wanted to watch it because I thought he was cute in that movie and while that movie was pretty bad, I gave it a half a star for not pairing up the two leads at the end. I just hope I don't find he's a big jerk or anything now.

I'm really sick of the whole "spoiled rich teenagers" genre. I hate how they all talk the same bitchy way. "You are like, totally not invited to my party." I am like, totally not watching this show.

I met one of the casting directors for this show last week. She was fed up with this show, it was kind of funny. She said something like, "I don't know why they can't get through an episode without putting on formal wear, but whatever."

The girl who plays Blair had some pretty strange hairdos going on. I thought it was eh.

Plus the main character (Serena?) is a total Joey Potter. The other characters were talking about her being so perfect and beautiful the entire show. That's just wrong.
I had it on while doing work and will not make that mistake again.

I watched it to see how the show would dramatize the books (actually, I was surprised it was on; I'd heard it was airing this fall, but didn't realize it was premiering so soon). The first episode was basically the first book, and that's the only one I've ever read -- and I don't have any real desire to read or watch the rest. I agree with lyrasilver: it was eh.

I wanted it to be juicier because the whole "beautiful people doing bitchy things to each other" thing perfectly complements ANTM.
Part of my brain was all "yay! Kristen Bell's narration!" before realizing how weird the whole anonymous blogger V/O is. Especially since it basically just recapped exactly what just happened.
