I really felt for Rodney King. He was obviously suffering tremendously. Busey is delusional. He is obviously on a serious mix of prescribed medication and doesn't consider himself an addict because he no longer does cocaine.
Years ago Steven Adler dated the wife of a friend of mine and ended up becoming a "customer" of my roommate. I had just moved out because of the craziness taking place and found out that Adler would visit the place often. In the previews Adler is heard to say he has only been sober for a few days since he was 13 years olds. I'm amazed he's managed to continue living. Damn.

God, why the crap is that awful Vicky woman back on this show? When she first came in and Dr. Drew asked her what she wanted to do (after telling her that she couldn't be with Jeff) I was all, "Dude, she wants to be on TV!" She doesn't want to be with Jeff, she wants to be where the television cameras are.
I'm actually really disappointed that she's there and judging from the previews, gets to interact with Jeff. Dr. Drew himself said it was a big no-no in recovery, so there better be a damn good explanation for why she was in Jeff's room.
Amber Smith was really sad. For whatever reason, I felt really sorry for her. Busey is off his nut. He makes me so uncomfortable I had to walk out of the room whenever he was on the screen. I can't imagine trying to go through recovery in a place where Gary Busey is.

I'm wondering who took Adler in, once he was kicked out at age eleven.

I'm already feeling a lot more invested in these people than in the first season's 'patients'. I mean, King, Smith, Kitaen... Damn. These people are not living their lives.

I am torn between thinking this show is the most horribly exploitive crap ever, and thinking it's brilliant/actually a step above the usual reality trash. Busey kills me, although I know if I had to deal with him IRL I would end up committing an act of violence. I could have handled not seeing Jeff and Vicki again. The whole Steven Adler thing---the mother abandonment, Slash, etc. just made me very, very, very sad. I almost had to change the channel. Same with Rodney King---very interested in seeing more of him--hope he opens up. The Amber model girl is incredibly beautiful and also makes me sad. She seems invested in her recovery, though. Can't stand Tawny Kitaen, or the Rod Stewart son. Who's left? Ah, American Idol girl. She was sad too. This is going to be a really, really good season.

I, myself, have been in treatment. With that said, I would pack my bags and seek help elsewhere if someone like busey was another patient. Don't get me wrong, the place is full of people with mental instability, obviously, but someone with clear and present issues shoving advice down my throat would be a bigger trigger to use than my mother in law. Poor Rodney king.

I think it's the former (though that doesn't stop me from being glued to this mess).
Jeff and Vickie - must have been viewed as the couple people love to hate, so of course Vickie is going to keep creeping in. And I think Gary has some serious brain damage from his accident - so that right there is horrible exploitation. They know he's not "right" - and addiction isn't his problem (or at least not the greatest problem). It makes me sad that he's becoming a joke.
As for the others - I would like to see Sean Stewart bitch slapped from here to kingdom come. Although I have a feeling he might not make it far on this show. And yes, Rodney King makes me incredibly sad, and now I'm wondering if he's got major mental problems as well that are being exploited here.

In some ways I can see why they picked Gary - he's someone who believes that he's clean and sober because he no longer does the drug that was once his problem (coke). But he still smokes pot. I can see how they might want to use him as an example to all those people out there who drink 3 bottles of vodka a day but think they're doing great because they aren't snorting blow anymore.
But...yeah. He's messed up. Seems they could have found someone else. But VH1 clearly isn't above exploiting him since they also had him on celebrity fit club.
Where they really lose their credibility with me is Jeff and Vickie - well, mostly Vickie. Jeff comes on this show because he loves the attention. But he also does have a serious addiction and I do think Dr. Drew is sincere in his desire to help Jeff get better. But there's no excuse for that poisonous Vickie. Yes, they could use her as an example of an enabler and someone who claims to love you but really they are just helping you dig your own grave, but it's gone beyond that. The producers are thrilled to have their villain.
Sean Stewart does need to be slapped. Hard. And I hope someone on the show does it.
Everyone else seems so sad and either serious about their problems and their recovery (Amber, Nikki) or just so completely lost and wasted away (Adler, Rodney King). Tawney, I don't know yet. She just really bugs me.
It's a trainwreck, but I can't look away.

How bad a problem do you have to have to get kicked out of guns n roses?
