I thought it was pretty good - not great, but pretty good. I'll be back for more. I think it can get even better once it starts to hit its stride.
And I just adore this cast! Tom Cavanagh (he better appear again!), Victor Garber, Tom Amandes - I love them all.
Johnny Lee Miller was great - I like how he plays Eli in a way that indicates that he hasn't entirely lost his geekiness. The Secretary, the brother and the acupuncturist were all great too.
And the gal who played Beth had great comic timing. I loved the scene where Eli just remembered that they had sex and when he first lays eyes on her son (with no husband in sight) he gets a panicked look on his face and asks "Is he...?" and she responds, "Yes. [Loooong pause] I was pregnant for eight years."

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and mainly it was the casting that did it for me. I know nothing about Jonny Lee Miller, but he was good for the comic stuff. LOVED his secretary. LOVED the non-Chinese Chinese acupunturist. Glad that his dad's memory was vindicated. I love the woman who plays his mom and wonder how she'll have time for this and Jericho. I guess she was filming this why they were on their "Cancelled but not really because of peanuts" hiatus. I liked Beth and his girlfriend. I thought that the girlfriend would be written to be horrible but she really isn't and she's funny.
I didn't like the story line because of the no-vaccine thing. Hopefully the stories will be better. I liked when he spread his dad's ashes and the two sherpas got choked up.

I meant to watch it and then forgot to set my DVR. Anyone knows if the pilot would be on again?
Knowing ithad Tom Amandes in it make me more sad that I missed it.

Dammit. Can someone tell me what happened in the last few minutes? My TiVo cut out when the judge was about to have them read the verdict.

Let's see - he won the case and the jury awarded his client 5.5 million. There was some business about the client making sure that the firm wouldn't fire him (but they weren't going to anyway because of the PR).
Then it flashed back to Eli in the mountains with the sherpas - he said some really touching things about his father (giving one of the sherpas a funny line "I need to call my father") and then he released his father's ashes on the mountains, which were the same mountains from the postcard his father gave him during the flashback.
I think that's it.

Aww. Thanks, kostgard.
I really enjoyed the show. Maybe that's because I love JLM and George Michael (I can't help it, I know he's mental). I'm sure they'll keep it on for a while, since there's not really anything else new because of the strike.

ABC does have the episode on their website - I think they allow you to stream the eps rather than download them.
I've always liked Loretta Devine, she was especially good in Boston Public.
I'm a total JLM fan and I hope that this show does ok for him - he's been in quite a fan that have been cancelled hasn't he? Smith immediately comes to mind.

Anybody out there watching this anymore? I got caught with the last two episodes last night and it's still very enjoyable.

I'm still watching it - and it is getting somewhat better. There are still things about it that bug the living crap out of me - namely that Maggie person.
I don't know if ABC will renew it or not, but if they do, they really need to flesh out some of the characters and rely on the family stuff (like with Eli's brother and the flashbacks with his father) because those have been the strongest part of the show.
And they need to do more with Victor Garber and Tom Amandes. Those two are awesome and they will be what I miss if the show doesn't get picked up in the fall.

I loved last week's episode. I find myself more interested in the cases others handle in the firm, rather than Eli. I like Loretta Divine, but for some reason do not buy the pairing with Tom Amandes. Also liked how they expanded Matt's character. I really hope they don't pair Eli with Maggie, though. No chemistry whatsoever. The actress somehow comes accross more as an intern with a crush rather than a "serious" lawyer.
