No, he just beat the shit out of their editor.
(Not really, but it was believable, right?)

I don't remember if he sued or not, but he came out of that marriage looking pretty bad. Everyone knew it was doomed, but I think people were shocked at how badly it ended.
His rep for attacking paparazzi went back to when he dated Elizabeth McGovern. It's not just the Madonna incident that gave him the abuser rep. He also got in trouble for having concealed weapons in his car in Marin county.
I think if he expressed interest, Madonna would get back together with him in a heartbeat. She always carried a torch for him. But he'd never do that because she's about 20 years too old for him now.

I always thought that the song "Til Death do us Part" from Madonna's Like a Prayer album was about Sean. It's basically about an abusive relationship.

I had to go back and read the specifics about why Penn is suing Daniels because I'd forgotten. This is the offending statement: I realize that Terrence Howard has been arrested more times for domestic violence. But in Daniels' quote, he doesn't specifically mention domestic violence. In general, Sean Penn is a hot head who has resorted to violence lots of times. The specifics may differ, but he's hardly the picture of an emotionally healthy adult. I think the whole thing is an ugly gray area but I don't think Madonna's accusation that Penn beat her is the single thing that's responsible for creating his bad reputation. . This is kind of similar to Lindsay Lohan's offense at Jennifer Lawrence statement, IMO. Both statements were in poor taste but there's still a lot of truth in there. I don't understand how Sean Penn's whining rose to the level of a lawsuit. He's a public figure and there is plenty of documentation to prove he has a propensity for violence. But it's free speech should have nipped this in the bud from the get go. The precedent this would set if he were to win is actually chilling. All that aside, I think Lee Daniels is off the mark. Penn and Brando came from a different time, a time when women were routinely considered to "have it coming" when a man abused them. Besides, Terrence Howard's career has survived and thrived though all of this. The thing he, Brando, and Penn really have in common is that they are talented men and the entertainment industry is very quick to look the other way and even support these men when they abuse women (and there are a lot more men than these three as an example of this). With his defense of Terrence Howard, Lee Daniels is just another sexist Hollywood asshole as far as I'm concerned.

He's dumb. As soon as I heard he was the actor linked to El Chapo, I went to the Death Pool to call him. As someone said, if El Chap or the cartel think he was caught because of Sean Penn, bye-bye Sean Penn. He may have a bounty on his head and on the heads of everyone he is supposed to love.

As someone said, if El Chap or the cartel think he was caught because of Sean Penn, bye-bye Sean Penn. He may have a bounty on his head and on the heads of everyone he is supposed to love. This was my thinking initially, but according to tortuga's link,Guzman was actually soliciting actors to try to get a movie made about his life. His hideout was raided once after the first 7-hour sitdown dinner and after that Guzman resumed contact with Penn to conduct a video interview. Not saying Penn isn't dumb, but El Chapo was itching to get this out there, for some reason. eta waytoocheerful It's not just that he initiated contact, but that he continued contact with Penn and Rolling Stone after the first raid. Also, the way the story is presented makes it sound like Penn didn't really know where the meeting location was or Guzman's whereabouts for the video submission. But, of course, there's no way to predict a heroine kingpin's logic and I do agree that it just isn't a risk I'd have been willing to take.
