Whenever I see his name at the top of this board, my first though is that he's killed someone.
That being said, I really did like Into the Wild.

The most surprising/unfortunate thing about that story? Hopper Jack. I have always been intrigued that they picked this name. They say it is for Dennis Hopper, who is a family friend. But "Henry Hopper" was the name of Sean's character in "Racing with the Moon," and everyone called the character Hopper. That role is one of the only romantic leads he's ever done, and he's ridiculously appealing in it. It was also the film where he met Elizabeth McGovern, who was his second fiance (Pam Springsteen was first - can you imagine if that marriage had happened and he was Bruce's brother in law?). So I think the name "Hopper" means more to him than just an homage to a friend. Or I could be reading WAY more into it because I have irrationally lurved him for so long. He and Robin have been a rocky road from the start. I can't believe how old their kids are already.

I find it disgusting, but not surprising, that he would name his son after two woman beaters(Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson). The fact that Penn considers those two good friends of his only supports my suspicion that Penn is a woman abuser himself.
And I've always gotten the impression that he held Robin back, not allowing her to do as much acting as she would have liked. I hope she finally gets the opportunity now.

We have relatives in San Fran who reported seeing these two at some bar in North Beach a few years back...apparently Robin was coked out of her mind and Sean was shamelessly hitting on other women.

What's with all the Hollywood divorces going on before the New Year? Sad.
Even sadder is stupid Ann Coulter's book ad showing on this thread!

Who didn't see this coming? He's been accused of physically abusing RWP for years, to say nothing of his many alleged infidelities. And he did tie Madonna to a piece of furniture before they divorced. Yep. Weird, huh? I'd never heard the barest whisper putting these two together before this happened. Oh my! The world really is a ghet-to.

Interesting. I had no idea he had such a reputation for cheating. He was a popular guess for this Janet Charlton whodunit: Semi-recent pics with Robin & the kids (April 11th, LAX).

He gives me the sleezy vibe every time I see him. I'm glad for Robin that this mess is over. I'd love for her to come out of this situation in a major way and get nominated for something. I've loved her since Princess Bride.

Yeah he's an alright actor I guess, but my lawd seems like the dullest man to ever exist in real life. Every interview I've seen has put me to sleep. Plus he seems to take himself waaaay too seriously and it bleeds through into his film roles, I think.
ETA: also! if he really is a wife beater than GOOD on Robin Wright for getting out. If only Forrest Gump was real and could knock the snot out of Penn. HE SHOULDN'T BE HITTIN' YOU, JENNY!

I also think that Sean's incredibly talented, maybe even more as a director than an actor. But he does give off a really skeezy vibe. I would wager that, seeing how many apparently normal and attractive women he's seduced, he's got an unnaturally gifted mouth and/or schlong.
