Why is liking Counting Crows unpopular? (I hate to sound like a snob, but I don't see what's unlikeable about them, other than that Adam Duritz is kinda fug)
Hell, I rallied to have "Accidentally in Love" as our wedding song.
Topic? To this day, I still enjoy Paula Abdul's "Spellbound". Hey, shut up. Prince worked on it.

OK, here is a broad opinion, but bear with me....
I hate rap, hip-hop, whatever you call it. I just can't stand it. I tried. I was a senior in high school when Public Enemy released It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, and everyone thought they were sooooo amazing, blah blah blah. It left me cold. Didn't get it then and never have since. Today, I can't tell a Kanye West song from a 50 Cent song from a Tupac song (I do know he's dead though). While I can appreciate the use of the human voice as a percussion instrument, the entire genre leaves me cold as ice, and sets my teeth on edge.
And conversely, with the notable exceptions of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Patsy Cline, C & W music gernerally leaves me feeling like someone just dragged their fingernails down a chalkboard behind my back.

All this talk about the site of yore made me think that if you posted this there, StartswithanAandendswithanR would be on your ass in about 2 seconds.
Oh, how I don't miss those days.

JenniPoo, I remember her too. While she could be cool (that CD exchange was great), she was absolutely fanatical about hip-hop. And heaven forbid you mention that you love a band that she hated *cough*Duran Duran*cough*. She was almost as bad as HM in the lit. thread, and his contempt for anybody who loved The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.
I feel the same way about hip-hop as I do about country & western: I don't like the genre as a whole, but there are individual songs that I like.

Haha, true! I'd have been banned for saying I thought Professor Griff was a douchebag. That's why the mods here are the best!!! ;D [/ass-kissing]

Yeah, you just have to tell me how much you loooove Duran Duran, and I'll let you get away with anything.
(I'm kidding. Really! KIDDING!)
Anyway, there are several artists who I've hated since day one, and am unlikely to ever change my mind, no matter how many Grammy awards or critical kudos they earn. I may forever earn someone's wrath, but, I HATE
1)Bon Jovi 2)Alanis Morrisette 3)Sheryl Crowe 4)Bruce Springsteen.
HAAAAATE!

Dwan--
Totally with you on the Bon Jovi hate. I'm from Jersey and all, but I swear they're just a bunch of p*ssies.

I agree that Bon Jovi is a pussy (oh, crap, are we not allowed to say that?), but he's a good looking pussy. I mean, er, that didn't come out right. I think his body is slamming.

Dwan, I only like three songs of Springsteen's and I'm from New Jersey where he's considered a deity (Jon Bon Jovi is a distant third behind Sinatra).
Also, no one has mentioned why Richard Thompson and his ex-wife Linda are so great. I never understood the accolades for both of them.

Calling Bon Jovi a bunch of p*ssies is an insult to p*ssies everywhere. Mine has certainly given me pleasure, which I cannot say about Bon Jovi.
I hate Matchbox 20. I think they're a band that I probably should like, but they're just so boring.
