Does anyone know when Billy Elliot is opening on Broadway? I can't imagine Billy and Michael with American accents, although one of the boys currently playing Billy in London is American and according to everyone I know who has seen him in the show, is excellent in the role.

Am I the only one amused that there is already a revival of Les Miserables, less than 10 (5?) years after it left Broadway? Less than five - it closed in 2003. From what I've heard barely anything has been changed from the original production. A different song for Gavroche, some costume changes etc. Personally, I felt the show was in more serious need of an overhaul - it really drags in a few places. Ok - I know I'm quoting myself but the damn Les Miz producers have gone and done the one thing that would make me consider shelling out $100 for a tix to the Lex Miz "revival". Lea Salonga set to play FantineI must get myself to NYC!

Oh, I love Lea Salonga! Her voice is so pretty . . . I could listen to her sing in anything.
OK, I subscribe to this service that sends e-mails with cheap ticket offers (or cheaper than normal price) and today they were offering tickets to Legally Blonde the musical. Is this really necessary. Must we really make a musical from Legally Blonde?

I am really, really over the movie-into-musical trend, myself. And the musicals based on one artist's entire back catalog. It's no wonder I barely see shows anymore.

I know everyone is horrified by the notion of jukebox musicals but Jersey Boys is a good show. I thought the "early years" songs were better than all of the Four Seasons songs. I really wanted to hear the full version of "A Sunday Kind of Love" instead of the snippet in the show and I thought "Cry For Me" was a great song too.

I mean that movie just screams "I should be on Broadway!". Really...it could be so awesome...

I'm traveling to NYC at the end of this month for work and whenever I'm there I like to use up a night and go see a Broadway show so I am thinking of doing Spring Awakening this year. Any other recommendations?

I saw a touring show of Les Miz when I was a teenager that changed my life. My whole family loved it- we had shirts, soundtracks, dolls. In a theater class in college we watched a tape of "Sweeney Todd" w/ Angela Lansbury (which scared the death out of me), and "Deathtrap" with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve. Reeve was excellent. I heard that they are making a "Sweeney Todd" movie. When we were in NYC for New Years 2003, we saw "Movin' Out", and thought it was great. John Selya looks all shades of good.

You have to let us know how it is. Have a great time! As for other shows, I've heard good things about Grey Gardens, but haven't heard the cast recording yet.
