Chonies, they used 'On Eagle's Wings' at the funeral of my old pediatrician. It was beautiful. And what a great Withers connection!
OT: I was on campus during Rita & Katrina. Now I have a job helping edit footage relating to the storms for the National Archives. I love my boss - but that's for a different thread. The point? The other day, I was transcribing a tape of some volunteers cleaning up the MLK Charter School building in the Lower 9th, and a local jazz band was there playing selections from Fats Domino. When they got to I'm Walkin', I started to cry.
My uncle's family has a monument at the Lafayette #1 cemetery. When they were dating, he introduced my aunt to his dead relatives before taking her to meet the living ones.

Hmm... even more off topic. I think maybe we should have NOLA meetup. We can go shopping for LUSH and have beignets and eat Shalimar! There are a few other GO Zone people on the board, maybe we should look into it?

To this day, my mother cannot bear "Eagle's Wings", because they played it at her father's funeral.

Aw, "Lovely Day" is one of my favorites -- that'd be really nice. A little off topic, I found these guys, who seem to like the song as much as we do, Chonies. I found myself grinning back at the screen -- it's kind of sweet.

You know when people have a kind happy, upbeat song to end the funeral as everyone files out? Something like "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life"? Makes me even more upset.

I would definitely want "Ave Maria" (Schubert's), as it is my all time favorite. And perhaps Sarah McLachlan's versions of "The Rainbow Connection" and "Prayer of Saint Francis".

No love for Dust in the Wind? That's what I always say I want.
