Definitely. I own it. And since i was either living in Pakistan or England at the time - forget exactly when - i succeeded in nagging my mother into putting her credit card details on the net for this, i can safely say yes it's available online.
And i don't think i've EVER seen another soundtrack CD which does exactly what i wish other TV/movies would do with their music; puts it ALL on there regardless of whether it was long enough to merit a name. So u'll have 'Anne and Diana go to the market', 'Anne gets ready for the dance' 'Anne finds out about Gilbert's illness' and - my personal favourite piece and probably the reason i was inspired to do the aforesaid nagging - 'Anne says goodbye to Marilla'.
i honestly think half the reason why alot of lovely tunes don't get released if because some people think if it's not long enough it doesn't merit a name/title, whereas the feeling of the production team here seems to have been 'it doesn't matter if it's a few tinkly bars that lasts 10 secs. And it doesn't matter if it isn't long enough to merit a title. It merits being captured and available on CD and being HEARD'. And then just taken the 'Friends' version of naming there episodes, and titled it 'the piece that plays when...'.
Anne of GG production team rock for that. And i wish this CD had set a precedent. Sadly, it hasn't.

I agree. There are pieces in movies that are only 10, 15 seconds long, but they can be gorgeous and heartbreaking.

I'm listening to the beautiful music from Pan's Labyrinth. I haven't even seen the film yet but the music is just wonderful and quite haunting. Yes, most of the songs repeat the main score but it's so sweet I don't really mind.

I've been a film score fanatic since I was a little kid. I'm an animated film buff and the score is such a huge part of that love and interest. My favorites are Danny Elfman, James Horner, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Jerry Goldsmith.
A score that I have always been in love with is the entire score, but mostly the main theme, from Peggy Sue Got Married. No idea who composed it or if it's available anywhere. If anyone has any info let me know....
[ETA] - Found it on iTunes. I dunno what it is but listening to this score makes me think of my own life in childhood and teenagehood and get all nostalgic and want to cry.

I agree. There are pieces in movies that are only 10, 15 seconds long, but they can be gorgeous and heartbreaking. One of my favorite pieces of music, ever, is the one that plays over the end of Swimming With Sharks (the Kevin Spacey movie). It's a very simple piano line, but it's so cold and beautiful. I would love to find a recorded copy somewhere, but I doubt it's available.

The instrumental pieces on Wang Chung's To Live and Die in L.A. soundtrack fit so perfectly in the movie. I also remember many a news story, even network, that used snippets as background music in their segments. You'd never think it was Wang Chung. Word to Gaskell's North and South, GinFizz, it's a crime that it's not available. Word to both!! Loved Wang Chung for To Live and Die in LA. The instrumental just sent chills up & down my spine. I really love the music to Gaskell's North & South. I left the disc on the main page one day so I could listen to the track. ETA: Prince's Under the Cherry Moon happens to be one of my favorite soundtracks, but not everthing from the movie is on there. There are moments in the film that are just brief jam sessions like "Love or Money" that just move the story along, but are like less than 30 seconds. I would love to get my hands on those little blips!

I'm not sure if this would go in here, but I heard Sufjan Stevens' "Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois" to advertise a showing of The Passion of the Christ on the BBC. Just the piano part and the ethereal chorus part. Still, I thought it was a bit...odd.
