I wonder if she would acknowledge that anything that she's ever published has been by the grace of her mother (that is, her being the daughter of Alice Walker, not that her mother went out and got it published for her.) Her entire career has been built around being Alice Walker's daughter.

And it seems to be that the career is centered around bitchin' and moain' about being Alice Walker's daughter too. Also yes, there is a cumulative effect in that article. At first, you feel sympathy for Rebecca but by the end, you're looking back and saying, hey lady, you're 38, for the sake of the son you presumably love so much, lose the bitterness that, to my eyes, should be greatly upended by the benefits of being related to that "lousy mother."

Rebecca has a few screws loose. I don't whether she's telling the truth about Alice or is seriously deluded.
I remember when she was trotted out as a spokesperson for third-wave feminism. She gave countless interviews and wrote several articles. Rebecca published one called "Becoming the Third Wave" in Ms. Magazine.
Now she's claiming that feminism is the devil. Is she trying to be the black, white, and Jewish Ann Coulter?
