Oh man. I do not like this girl. It's like, Avril Lavigne levels of irk all over again.

I read some interview of her awhile back, and she described her songs as "deep and brutally honest." OK, right there? FAIL. Then, she went on to say that there weren't any people out there in the pop world filling the shoes of Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, or Joan Jett, and that she was going to do that. Oh, girlfriend. No.

And now the Miley quote? Gross. I know, it's normal for faux bi-curious 23-year-olds to want to make out with 15-year-old pop stars. Totally normal.

Oh, and her other song, "UR So Gay" is quality. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. Using "gay" to mean stupid or lame. But you're not homophobic, noooo. You loooove the gays. It's me--I am just not getting modern teen parlance. I can tell you this--when I was a kid instead of using the word "gay" to mean stupid, people used the word "f**" the exact same way. It was homophobic then, and it still is now.

Ugh. Totally agreed. My 15 year old nephew uses "gay" to = "stupid" all the time, and every time I want to smack the shit out of him, so much so that the last time he said it in front of me, I told him so. I can't believe that crap hasn't changed from when I was in high school!
So, yeah. To me, this is 15 year old, Avril Lavigne music. I just downloaded some songs by a British artist called Adele. I think she's 19. If SHE said she creates honest music, I wouldn't laugh at her. THIS Katy chick is a joke.

I've seen this song mentioned a few places now -- never favorably -- and finally decided to see what the deal was. I'm not impressed. I think if it wasn't for the vaguely risqué topic, the song wouldn't have registered on anyone's radar. It's not even that fun a pop song. It's not even remotely shocking anymore, just clichéd and boring.

I said this in one of the music threads, but I saw her on E! and she said that she hadn't kissed a girl, but the song was about when you and your boyfriend are flipping through a magazine, and you see a hot model and point to the page and say "I would make out with her". This girl is such a phony baloney.

I would have no problem having her no cellulite thighs though

Yeah, I youtubed her video. My impressions?

1. She looks just like Zooey Deschanel. To the point where I've thought she was Zooey Deschanel when she's been featured on GoFugYourself.
2. Didn't TaTu already do this "faux lesbian" schtick?
3. Hello, Jill Sobule already released the "I Kissed a Girl" song. It was cute.

In summation--IMO there's absolutely nothing original about this chick at all.

Have you guys seen that SNL skit where Keenan Thomson hosts a club music show and these ludicrously dressed "singers" come on and bleat out dumb lyrics about condiments and keychains over thudding backtracks? Katy Perry could be on that skit and seem like part of the joke, no problem.

I hate her stupid song and her awful voice. Her voice sounds so strained when she sings, it sounds like she's trying to pass a kidney stone or give birth or something.
