I'm surprised Bat-Man hasn't been cancelled. He's the epitome of white privilege. His rich parents were mugged by urban criminals and instead of spending his vast fortune on reform, charity and education, he spends it on vigilante justice, targeting the lowlifes who are threatening the comfort and safety of white space. From his billionaire non-urban mansion.

I just simply don't get the fascination with making Batman over and over again with different actors. I admit I loved the first two w/ Michael Keaton and the Christopher Nolan trilogy with Christian Bale, who's one of my favorite actors. But we don't need this made over again every few years. Don't even get me started on Batfleck. What else can be wrung out of this story?

I was watching some Comic-con panel with Anthony Mackie and he complained "If I have to watch Batman's daddy die ONE more time..." and honestly that goes through my head every single time there's a Batman reboot. He's right, dammit. The trailer reminded me a little bit of the SNL "Grouch" spoof of Joker, but I'll admit I'm more receptive to over the top emo goth Batman than I thought I'd be.

I thought the new trailer looked awesome. Made me interested and I haven't been since The Dark Knight.

I feel like if they can’t even protect Batman from getting Covid, there is really no hope for the rest of us. Well, Batman's mask covers the wrong part of his face to protect him from Covid. But if I have to see Martha Wayne's pearls hit the ground again in that alleyway...

There's quite a few articles and blogs on Bat Man's white privilege super power. If you feel up to googling them, they'll probably give you a better understanding of that particular outlook than my post did.

The question: is it his whiteness or his wealth that is his privilege?

I feel like it's both, really. His wealth buys him out of a lot of trouble, and being a white guy from a "good" family definitely means he gets slack cut for him that no one else would.
