I wouldn't call her ugly, but that's only because I like her. Anna and Kristen Bell are proof that you don't have to be gorgeous to become a fairly successful young actress.

Oh, I think K Bell is stunning - and Anna can be too, depending on angles/lighting/styling- but I think they definitely prove that it's better to be distinctive looking and talented than to get tons of surgery and highlights and fashion styling until a girl looks like every other generic blonde Jessica & Jennifer-type in Hollywood.

Please, I just have to know if the gap in her front teeth is real?

I think she's very pretty.
I think the only thing that I might consider kind of "fug" is her gap, and even that seems to work well for her.
But I think she's actually got quite a nice face. But then I think Claire Danes is rather pretty too, so maybe what I find pretty deviates from the norm.
I do think, if given a choice, I'd rather look like Anna Paquin than Scarlett Johannson or Megan Fox. I don't think the latter are ugly in any way, but I think the face should radiate intelligence and I think Paquin's and Danes's faces both do that. I think Natalie Portman is rather smart-looking while also being more conventionally pretty, but I think Paquin has a certain way about her (something about the way she talks and moves) that makes her also quite interesting to look at.
Edited to add:
I kind of figured she'd grow up to be the most striking and talented actor out of all those female child actors from the early 90s, but I am surprised that she turned out to be the most capable of oozing actual sex appeal. Everyone else seems kind of awkward, even Johannson with her busty figure.

Maybe it's just the material, but I think she is awful on True Blood. Very beautiful, yes, but a terrible, terrible actress. I think people are so overwhelmed by her sexual chemistry with her boyfriend/costar that they overlook the very simple fact that she sucks.
She's had that gap since she was a kid. It's real.

I think she's pretty, but I really cannot stand Sookie. Of course, I remember hating Claire for a majority of Six Feet Under and then her becoming my favorite character, so I hope Alan Ball has the same sort of trajectory in mind.

I think if she got the gap fixed, she'd most likely be considered conventionally beautiful (though I'm not saying it's necessary that she actually do get it fixed.)
I've only watched about 10 episodes of True Blood (the first 10) and I found most of the characters quite irritating, so I assume that Sookie is supposed to be annoying? I'm not sure. I found the brother of her character to be quite irritating.
I have to admit that I do find the sex scenes a bit too gratuitous. I feel embarrassed watching the stuff even if the actual storylines might be interesting. I really feel bad for the actor who plays the brother of Sookie. He always gets stuck in the most embarrassing looking love scenes and has to play his character in a phenomenally dumb way. It could be that the actor is genuinely bad but at the same time the writers like to portray his character as a buffoon. And I think it's because of his character that I pretty much stopped watching the show. There was only so much stupidity from that character I could take.

He's gotten interesting in the second season and has really cut back on the gratuitous sex.
I have to give Anna credit for looking pretty with the Rogue hair. Not many women can look good with a giant grey-streak in the middle of their head!

I think she's absolutely horrible in True Blood and wonder how in the hell she ended up getting cast as Sookie. I've seriously been wondering about it lately. As for her oozing sex appeal, I personally don't think she does. Though if she fixed her gap, she would probably look better, but she certainly isn't ugly, she just looks 1000X better as a brunette.

I find her accent a bit strange, but on Letterman I thought she was one of the few actresses in her age range who actually came across as a grown-up when she's herself. In that sense I do think she generates more sex appeal than other actresses. She didn't seem so girly and awkward as the rest of them. I could see a certain girliness in Sookie when I watched the beginning episodes, but I assumed the character was supposed to be that way because of the character's innocence and naivete. But as herself Paquin comes across as a grown-up woman. On the other hand, Portman, Johannson, Fox, Panetierre, etc. -- no matter how provocative they try to behave -- come across as, well, girly.
I'm not saying Paquin is like Angelina Jolie or anything in terms of generating a lot of heat, but I do think she comes across as a straight-up grown up and I do think that makes her appealing.
