Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple are two of my favorite literary characters.
Poirot just cracks me up with his moustache toilette and his love of good food. I love all the little details about him in her stories.

When I was a teenager I spent several years voraciously reading Agatha Christie mysteries. The Seven Dials was one of my favorites and also Halloween Party. Oh, and there was one that took place in ancient Egypt that I was really into but I don't remember the name...
Has anyone read Endless Night? It's really different for an Agatha Christie mystery. It's sort of eerie with a kind of underlying sadness.

It is, it's bleak!
AC did a short-story version of it too, with a different solution. She did a short-story version of Remembered Death, too, called Yellow Iris(?).
The Egypt one is Death Comes as the End. I liked Nofret (no fret! Like, chill out!)
My best friend Jamie, who was also my little gay boy crush, used to swap and collect these with me in seventh grade. He still on occasion refers to "AAaaagatha", taking about 10 seconds to properly exhale her name.

I've read both of her memoirs--her official autobiography (called, naturally, "The Autobiography of Agatha Christie") is just fascinating. I've probably read it 5 or 6 times, it's a huge fat book, but every now and then I'll get in the mood to reread it. I highly, highly recommend it. I love so many of her mysteries (took me years, but I'm pretty sure I've read all of them), but I have to say that I think her creepiest is Cat Among the Pigeons. The first time I read it--late at night--I really had a hard time falling asleep afterwards. Every time I heard a little noise, I was positive it was an intruder trying to break in (hey, I was probably 15 at the time )
