This is only on CBS's streaming service in the US, right? I would like to check it out, but not enough to pay for yet another streaming service (especially when I can't stand most CBS shows).

I think that it is just CBS streaming for you. That sucks doesn't it? I just glad that I can get it at all.
ETA: Woah! Just found out that I don't need to get Netflix at all! The show airs on the Space Station, Canadian SyFy-like channel.
"Lucky Canadians. While the rest of the world has to figure out the right app to download and how to stream it to their TV, Canadians are just chilling. If you live in Canada, you can watch Star Trek: Discovery on the Space Channel, starting Sunday, September 24 at 8:30PM ET. Each episode will air on subsequent Sundays at 8:30PM ET."
Sweet!

I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses now that she's been convicted. Also I like that we're exploring the Klingon hostilities era. It always intrigued me to find out what happened.

I liked it -- but not $10/month liked it.

Thanks to stupid football my DVR only recorded a third of the premiere.
I'll have to sign up for the free trial of CBS All Access and see if I like it enough to continue.

I was hoping to love it from the start but couldn't get past Sonequa's incredibly wooden acting. If we're supposed to rally around her character, she needs to do a better job of making her more believable. Loved the Captain and Sarek (and even the science officer), but not yet sold on Number One. Agree. Also, the opening on the desert planet made me think I would love it, but then we got to the SHINY ship. I hate shows with SHINY ships. I have an idea that in the future people will realize that shininess is too much sensory stimulation to pay attention to the minute details involved in keeping a ship running. Same with JJ Abrams' Star Trek, being on that ship would tip me into manic from the sensory overload.

Just watched the 4th episode. I'm really liking it a lot. I enjoy Sonequa and this show is wicked dark. This episode especially was pretty disturbing and I was kind of hoping that Captain Georgiou was a prison of war. Well, that theory was laid to rest here.

This second season of Discovery is amazing. It is just so damn good and the story line is fantastic. I'm loving Anson Mount as Captain Pike and Ethan Peck as Spock but all the main characters are just killing it this year. Stamets and Culber especially. I can't say enough good things about this show. I'm lucky enough to have easy access to it up in Canada and everyone I know who watches it up here loves it.

I can't say enough good things about this show. I'm lucky enough to have easy access to it up in Canada and everyone I know who watches it up here loves it. I’m really enjoying it too. There are some storytelling/pacing issues, but overall it is entertaining and the cast is good. I too really like Pike and Spock (and boy does Ethan look like his Grandfather, one of my favorite “Old Hollywood” actors). I hope they stick around next season. I know that they have to return to the Enterprise at some point, but they work so well here. Stamets and Culber are killing me. I want those two crazy kids to work it out. But what was up with Georgiou, like, getting off on their pain this last episode? I know she likes messing with people (that was her whole “ My Stamets was bi, so how about it?” moment was about, but she also observed a painful exchange between them from a distance and seemed way too pleased about it). This may be unpopular, but I also really like Tilly. She was a bit annoying in the beginning, but she’s really grown on me.

I thought that Georgiou was more pushing them to see that they're jealous and that there are still feelings there. I think she cares more about people than she lets on. I love her and I love Tilly too! You're not alone. I'm really invested in her story. I can't wait for the next episode.
