Why not just name her Sara/Sarah/Serah?? I don't mind Serafina but seriously, if you name a child Serafina...call them Serafina/Seraphina. I hate nicknames!!!! That's like saying my parents should have named me Vickie instead of Victoria. Or my friend Angie instead of Angela. My dad should have been named Jim instead of James. Or Matt instead of Matthew. Dave instead of David.

I have a friend who works where Violet goes to pre-school. She said that Ben told her they call her Serah. Ugh, this makes me like the name a lot less. Since "Sarah" is a common name on it's own, "Serah" looks less like a nickname for Seraphina and more like a lame attempt on the parents' part to make their little Sarah "original". I hate when people do that.

And, I don't think it matters if the sisters have names that are so alike. I hate matchy, matchy or things that are too closely related. ITA. I'm on a life/parenting board and some women twist themselves into knots trying to pick names that "go" with their siblings first and middle names. When they are 21 and 18 years old, no one is going to say "Your name is Violet? That doesn't flow with your sister's name." I can see where some parents may not want to have one child named Caitlin or Aidan and then go with something heavily Italian for the other. To me, that's a case where the names don't flow very well or match.

I mean, kids named Elizabeth, Robert, Katherine & Thomas flow together well as sibling names, whereas Felipe, Xavier, Julie & Lakeisha don't sound like siblings so much as they sound like 4 kids who might be in the same 1st grade class at school. I don't think Serafina and Violet "go" together well. Do they have to? Nope, but my personal preference wishes that they did.

Serafina is different but seems kind of odd on an Affleck/Garner baby.

I guess my thinking is the importance of names that "flow" lessens as children get older, go their separate ways and are less likely to be introduced by their parents as a "set" when they are adults. So if a parent really liked the names Felipe, Julie and Lakeisha, more power to them. I would actually find them to be an interesting group of siblings. I'm just bugged when parents are talked out of a name they like because others don't think it goes with the first kid's name.

I'm totally pulling this out of my own ass, but maybe since Jennifer chose the name for the firstborn, perhaps she let Ben choose the name for the second one. (and approved by her, of course ) Anyway, not a bad name. Unusual, but kinda nice. It's unique so she will likely be the only Seraphina in her class (amongst a sea of Ava's or whatever)

I know, logically, that sibling names don't have to match because when the kids are older it won't matter, but still, I think it sounds really strange when people give their kids names that are totally different in style. Once I read about brothers named Merlin and Steve. To this day, that makes me laugh.
As for Jen and Ben, honestly, now that I know the baby name, I got nothin'. They are pretty boring IMO.
