I admit I have been very moved by the simple and traditional burial of Natasha. The Irish wake in New York, the simple service at her beloved home, and burial in a old country cemetery near her grandmother. I mean, how many people in death are brought back to their home just one more time.

It just shows what a classy lady she was in life and what a classy family she had. They show great respect and dignity with the way they handled the services.
Traditional wakes and burials can be a great help with closure and I think the Redgraves/Richardsons/Neesoms have an excellent family bond that will help them get through this.
God speed to them all.

This is a beautiful tribute written by one of her friends. I thought it was unusual that Sam Mendes mentioned in his statement what a fabulous host she was, but from what it says here she sounds like she really was! Also, it breaks my heart to hear that the ski trip was meant as special alone time with her older son.

Liam was one of the pallbearers... good Lord. He's been so incredibly gracious - waving to the cameras. I hope they're left alone soon. I'm always amazed at how the celebs in NYC are usually left alone to roam the city - unlike LA where every day is a feeding frenzy. Liam has been walking around (sometimes completely alone) - he seems to enjoy doing that. I hope the cameras go away now.

What a lovely article - I remember reading in Richard E. Grant's "With Nails" about him being in Los Angeles with Natasha at the time Tony Richardson died - about how energetic and open she was, how she organized the funeral with so much capability and about how much love she radiated without self-pity.
Her loss is great to art and greater to her family, but the great lesson she lead a busy, fulfilling life.
And the family dealt with this so well - the group photo at the funeral with Liam waving and Vanessa in pink and white is a very generous thing to share with the world at this time, because they really should not have to. It kills me that Vanessa sang "Edelweiss" to her daughter at her funeral, as she did at her wedding.
And on another note, Joely Richardson and her daughter Daisy look so beautiful and so alike - Joely left Nip/Tuck for a season to nurse her daughter; I take it she has recovered?

Aw, that tribute write-up was so touching. She sounds like she would have been an amazing person to be friends with.
Oh, I can totally imagine this.

That was such a beautiful tribute. It confirms that Natasha Richardson really was like what I imagined her to be. I read somewhere else that she loved to cook and saw her most recently on Top Chef. It also explains Meryl Streep's tribute to her: "Tash was the warm sun in the center of a large constellation of family, friends, all of those lucky enough to know her — she is irreplaceable in our lives; she gave us so much, so generously — her legacy is the love that connects us all." — Meryl Streep.

Seeing the photos of her traditional "homegoing", as we say in the south, you can tell these are people, with all of their blessings and success, still believed in community and faith. And for celebrities, that's striking to me. Not that celebrities can't be spiritual, but it's nice to see that even as such big stars, they obviously believe that their is something bigger than them.
I'm speaking personally as a believer and wish not to offend those who are not.
