I find her songs catchy -- they're hard to get out of one's head. However, I can't help but be annoyed by her outfits. She should really buy a pair of pants.

She's a bit similar to Madonna (and not in a flattering way) in that she tries very hard to be sexy, but isn't. However, she might be somewhat more aware of this than Madonna, I'm not sure. I get the impression Lady Gaga is playing around with some kind of strange persona and using strange get-ups to look as annoying as possible, but it's deliberate. If you told her that she isn't actually sexy, there is the possibility that she might agree. However, if I told Madonna that, I think she'd look at me rather flabberghasted and banish me from her presence.

My husband had never seen her before last night's appearance on Idol. He was aghast. We wondered why Norman Gentle was canned for being "ridiculous" but Gaga could flail across the stage in a sequined bathing suit and zippered eye patch and be a star?

All I know about her is that I don't believe for one hot second that she is 23 as she claims to be.

I like her music a lot. I agree, however, there is no way in hell she is 23. Even though people slag the Lohan girls for looking so much older than they are, you get the feeling that if they stopped the tanning, smoking, and hard living, they would appear to be the ages we know they are. With Lady Gaga, I have never seen one picture of her that suggests she could be anything less than late twenties (being generous) or early thirties (more likely).

I think her music is catchy as hell. I just saw an interview with her, though, and she's really irritating when she talks. She puts on this whispery, girly voice that is completely different from her singing voice and she kept her sunglasses on for the entire (indoor) interview.

In another thread (Dumb Quotes, I think?) someone posted a link to a demo or single she did under her original name, which is apparently "Stefani," and she had dark hair, dressed down and looked completely different. She also did not look like a teen in that picture, so I'm guessing she's been in the game awhile and the Lady Gaga thing is a fairly calculated reinvention to help her stand out and get a career going. I also don't buy she's 23. And if you plan on being in the public eye for any length of time, those are the kind of lies that come back to bite you in the ass, when you look awesome for your true age of 40 but people are going, "Man, she looks rough for 30."

Her music is catchy and I like to work out to it, but her ignorant comments on feminism and her empowering nakedness (honestly, if you want to be scantily clothed in your videos I don't care, but please just own it and stop acting like you're any different from the zillion other scantily clad pop stars out for attention and are somehow doing some kind of consciousness-raising public service) really irritated me, and I have a bad taste in my mouth regarding her now. She'll be one of those people whose singles I might use for the gym, but whose interviews I'll avoid like the plague.

Here we have the same old tired story of the unique "artist" that was teased by the other girls because of her "fearlessness." The girl who is sexually sophisticated at the age of 12 and is so damn creative she puts plastic flowers on her clothes.

I think she might be playing her Lady GaGa character in these interviews. Since I love her music and appreciate the effort she puts into her performances I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on that for now.
