I was happy to read at 15 Minutes that it was Ellen's idea to put the blanket over their heads. (that sounds really odd, I know)

I miss a bunch of stuff as I don't hit all the Gosselin related sites*. (so thanks for those links, all!) Yesterday I was at Z on TV commenting on the value of Twitter (and I worked in some Gosselin, as they do talk Gosselin over there) and spent a couple of hours on the phone with a friend talking TV, ratings, and advertising models (we have no new ideas, sadly)

*My friends are confused and annoyed that I have not read entire threads on the Scott Bakula forums - both of them. They say I can't expect to know what is in a newspaper article by just reading the headlines. They don't get that if their headlines are inaccurate or incomplete, I don't have time to read their threads. I'm not reading just one "newspaper."

No reply from the folks at Schedules Direct, yet. I'm not sure they check their forum.
This morning I've already written one email to someone who wanted "Duck eggs to hate and feed 'for a while.'"

I feel like Advocacy for Hire these days ;-) though really, most of the requests to support, buy, boycott, whatever - I just ignore. I feel guilty but... here it is:

Watch Chuck and Men of a Certain Age (they're both on Monday - sadly neither is opposite Kate)
Don't watch Kate when she's Plus 8
Ducks and Bunnies are Commitments, not Easter Gifts
Twitter has good uses, Twitter has bad uses - find the good ones and don't annoy people. Having a zillion followers is not the point. Contributing something is good.

I've read this four times now and can't figure out what it means. Is she an editor? If so, why would she be required to read threads about Scott Bakula? Since when are threads newspaper articles?

Thanks for your kind words but there was one other area that I started to comment on but figured maybe not ... but now... oh what the hell.

I have no problem with the fact that the Carpios are naturalized citizens or that they are from Equador. I grew up in California so I'm trust me when I say that I'm open to "live and let live". To be more specific, my favorite Uncle Morey and Aunt Bob gave me my first Shetland pony on my 9th birthday, May 10, 1965.

What I'm afraid of are the aliens who already know how to work the system better than those of us who are born here. The aliens who wind up getting tax dollars for their regular medical care, in addition to everything else. I think we have all seen the emails going around re the aliens pitching a fit in Arizona; hard working Americans are tired of all the freebies that the aliens get these days.

So by medical care I'm not just talking the regular stuff but the fertility treatments and then the vast amount of intensive medical care and cost that is required when these multiples babies are born early. These babies all start their lives in NICU, and the sad truth is that not all babies survive.

I happen to believe that people should not be risking multiple birth pregnancies in order to have TV fame and fortune like Kate Gosselin and Octomom Nadia. Children are not commodities dammit!

Anyway, whereas the Gosselins hit the white people and Asian culture, the fact is that a spanish speaking minority family will certainly open up a whole new market for TLC and its sponsors. So I'm not sure what will happen when other aliens figure out this is a yet another way to get free money and not work, and that any baby that is born on American soil will be an "anchor baby" so the parents will never have to leave.

Oh, and don't me started on the fact that I have to push "1" for English...

One thing is for sure: America truly is the land of opportunity -- for all of us.

Yes I would hate to see people of any ethnic heritage jump on the "have a litter - become TV stars" bandwagon (simply cause they might watch more if the people on TV looked like they did).

I wonder whether Naturalized also means Previously Legal Immigrants.
I have a friend from... another country. She said when they moved here that they had to sign something (or maybe didn't have to sign but just knew) that they were not allowed to take public funds (welfare, whatever) for 5 years. My memory is not great - this was 4 years ago (scary!) but it was something like that. Illegal aliens can apparently get freebies but if you are legal, no go. I'm venturing way close to Politics here, so I will stop.

But how about Press 1 for Spanish. Or as they say "Oprima el numero uno"

Btw, if you are on hold for a year and a half, *try* the Spanish tech support. If you can get thru the menus (and sometimes there aren't any but sometimes if you can understand a little Spanish, you can guess) you may just have less competition for an support person, who you can then speak to in English. I've done that twice. Tracfone was one, I forget the other.

So here's the question - what happened to the black family from somewhere in TX that had octuplets? Did they decide to take care of their own children? Or, what I meant to ask, wasn't there a black family with sextuplets on TLC? Perhaps black people have better things to do than watch other people's kids and the ratings were crappy? (yeah, I know - I'm insulting myself for watching J&K, but I've been watching multiples since the Fischer quints and the Kienast quints. I'm not interested in the kids (though those Hayes kids were unimaginably helpful and good kids!) I'm really fascinated by the logistics. Once you get past that - I'm bored. I'm pretty sure the only reason I kept watching - or started again - was the way J&K interacted (like a couple on the fast track to divorce).

btw - today on Z on TV I saw someone refer to Kate as the WWW - Wicked Witch of Wernersville. My apologies to all those people who are not her neighbors.

She got the pony from her gay uncle and his longtime companion, so she's not narrow-minded. You see, when a child accepts a ridiculously expensive gift from a relative and that guy he brings over twice a year when grandma's not around, that truly selfless act on the child's part cancels out all possibilities of being racist or xenophobic. Forever. If only more children could receive pricey livestock from gay relatives then we'd have world peace. I blame the gays for not doing the right thing and giving away ponies. What's wrong, gays? Dontcha want world peace?
