Father-in-law Constantine II of Greece has died. Does that mean there will be a "promotion" for his son Pavlos and his DIL, our namesake? Quotes because their titles aren't meaningful anymore. |

Apparently the Greek government decides the size of the funeral because they have to provide the cost of the security? Not sure if this is true, read this on another site. I am guessing Charles and William will attend, he was a good friend to Charles and a Godfather to William.

I just read there will not be a state funeral. He’ll be buried as a private citizen.

Greece abolished the monarchy by both constitutional referendum and public vote, and became a presidential parliamentary democracy. We elect our heads of state, we don't bow to anyone.
Legally there is no "succession" or hereditary title of any kind afforded to the late former king's children or grandchildren. My husband and I blew a gasket when we saw the BBC refer to Pavlos as "HRH" in an interview. It is bad enough to call him a "Crown Prince" when the crown no longer exists, but no-one in that Glücksburg family has been HRH of Greece since 1974.
I'm sure that Pavlos will pathetically try to fashion himself as the new King of the Hellenes. It's all cosplay. Pretenders gotta pretend.
