Wasn't Sir Patrick the other half of the Gaye and Gordon episode? It's so weird--that house and family were so awful, but now I'm thinking that at least they weren't sex offenders.

Yes, he seemed the less offensive hoarder because Gordon was so angry and the Gordon/Gaye house was so dirty and filled with four growed adults of possibly twisted DNA origins (I think this was discussed at length on TWoP that G/G might have been closely related due to the weirdness of the kids). Anyhow, yeah, in Hoarders-world, Sir Patrick seemed inoffensive relatively. Oh how standards are lowered as filth is raised in every subsequent episode of Hoarders. And I thought Robin, one episode ago was the worst, though she wasn't living in her cat shit/cat corpse-filled house at the time of the cleanup.

Vula reminds me that not all crazy mentally ill bag ladies are homeless... until they lose their home to cat shit.

The Reverend gave off a really creepy vibe, almost abuser-like. What the doctor termed reaching out for a kiss seemed like a controlling grab to me. And what kind of a Reverend drives a Lexus?

I loved it when Margree's daughter stated the obvious: "My mother just got rid of the biggest piece of clutter in her life." Damn straight! He didn't seem very supportive or understanding at all. Most spouses would think "my husband/wife has a problem and needs my help." Reverend Jerkass just seemed pissed off that his wife's hoarding problem was a huge inconvenience and embarassment to him. He was a very selfish and uncaring individual.
On the other side of that coin, I did appreciate the way Kathleen's sister wanted to help her, but also held her accountable for her actions and how they affected her kids. I felt like her anger was justified. It's one thing when the hoarder lives by his or herself, but when there are kids in the house, I have less sympathy for them. Kathleen was pretty nonchalant and oblivious to how this condition was affecting her kids. She needed a wake up call!

I don't know. Maybe it's my OCDness - but I would totally check out if my husband became a hoarder. I get that it's a mental illness, but I can see how a spouse would completely give up. Valuing garbage over me? I'd be pulling a Reverend myself.

I mostly agree, but what rubbed me wrong was that Margree was trying to fix the problem, and succeeding, unlike Big Gulp Patty, and he was being kind of a dick about it. I also got the impression that her hoarding problem existed before they got married. I have wondered about a lot of partners though, like the woman who broke her arm in her husband's hoard, and Kerry of Kerry and Teri. I know nothing about psychiatry, but maybe being married to a hoarder is like a fole a deux, where the hoarder thinks everything is fine, and the partner shares the delusion by agreeing to not let people over, or not throw out the trash, or whatever. Or maybe it's straight up emotional abuse. Interesting.

Please tell me I'm not the only one watching this right now. I came in half way through, and this has to be the most depressing episode ever. Both these women should be institutionalized, and their families put into major intensive therapy.
The 9/11 lady is especially ill. She needs serious help.

My 10-year old was yelling at the t.v.: "Geez, lady!" And I made her clean her room afterwards.
