Andrew, the dude who got his brother cut out of their dying father's will, so that he could have the house to himself to continue his hoarding. (Am I remembering that situation right?) I tell you, if the brother had just flat-out shot the guy and I were on that jury, he'd never see the inside of a prison cell. You're remembering it right, and I'd be alongside you on that jury with two thumbs up. I know the therapist was trying to deal with Andrew's hoarding first and the sibling issues had to take a back seat but the brother had a legit point. Andrew was crazy like a fox and had finagled his brother out of half of a $500K home, only to completely trash it. Talk about twisting the knife! Yeah, that dude pissed me off. There was so much active thought and premeditation put into his assholery that I can't blame Andrew's problems solely on mental illness, although it's possible he would have remained "only" a garden-variety asshole if it weren't for his hoarding problem. Either way, I really put him in a different class than the people who are more passively assholes about their hoarding (not that I'm making excuses for that either).

I love the clean up guy Matt. "We're all 4 or 5 decisions away from shitting in a pot." ;D
And then he compared the parade of hoarded dolls to a whorehouse - "Yes, no, yes, no" - as the dolls were paraded by. And I love the fact that he gets pissed at these people. Honestly, if I were a relative I don't think I could stand showing up to help clean. Especially with the level of batshit crazy going on with most of them.

I'd love an episode devoted solely to Matt, his best quips and comments interspersed with behind the scenes footage of him and his crew before, during, and after the cleaning. His crew is always so professional and low-key but can you imagine the conversations they have over some beers afterward?

Matt's story is really interesting; he's a former gambling addict who employs all ex-addicts in his own business (not the guys on the show). I believe that he also got into the business because he had a family member who was a hoarder.
Why were Mary's ex-sister-in-law and nephew living with her? I would imagine that getting your own place not in hoarderland would be more important financially than sending your kid to boarding school.

Matt being a former addict makes sense. He really cuts through all the enabling BS.
I wondered about Mary's sister in law and nephew as well. Maybe they inherited a share of the house and that's why they lived there. Mary'd blown through her cash so there'd be no way for her to buy them out and they couldn't sell the house in that condition, either. I assumed the nephew was in boarding school because of the hoard.
Ooh ooh ooh! It looks like A&E's wrapping up this season with two of the worst ever! Tonight's show is a woman who's hoarded all sorts of farm animals and animal control's been called in. Matt's deadpan is in full effect! Next Monday is a guy who's hoarded 2,500 RATS. Yes, RATS! His floor is alive with an undulating mass of the nasty critters.
"Hoarders" is, flat out, no contest, shut the front door, THE BEST TELEVISION SHOW THAT HAS EVER EXISTED. They should just clear the shelves at the Library of Congress and fill it back up with "Hoarders" DVDs.

Inspiration comes in many different forms. This show has done more to inspire me to clean my house, than all the Lysol and Pine Sol commercials combined.
Anyhoo, tonight's 9pm (cst) show is new, but 10pm's is a repeat. Robin's "house" has to be in the top (bottom?) 5 of worst houses ever. I watched this episode online and nearly puked. There was literally a room of shitbags. Shit. Bags. "4 or 5 decisions from shitting in a bucket" notwithstanding, Robin and her dad had no tangible psychological issues that led to them shitting in bags, and throwing them in a room. Grief aside, this was some seriously lazy ass shit.
Also, Matt and his crew's lack of long sleeves unnerves me.

I'm watching right now but I don't know if I'll make it through the show. It is so disgusting. This is the worst episode I've ever seen and I'm only 10 minutes in.

First time Hoarders watcher. I never thought I'd say this about bunnies but they're making me shudder.

Gary (the bunny guy) is giving seriously creepy vibes. The bunny screensaver sealed it. I don't even want to give voice to my suspicions. Hanna, the other animal hoarder/abuser, needs to be taken out back and shot.
