You know things are backward when you hear about the site closing from the New York Times site - i.e., it's not a go-to site for me anymore like it used to be BITD. I do look up shows I've just "discovered" to see what others think on the forums but I haven't read recaps in ages. The negatives of the forum were that the discussion would start out fairly civilized and even-handed and quickly devolve into "she's nothing but plastic surgery!", "gastric bypass and not admitting it!", "frauds!", "schemers!", and that's just on the Real Housewives threads. The early days of dishing on Dawson's Creek and then the early days of the Duggars when there were only 14 of them and when the Gosselins were still a cute novelty seem so long ago.

Off-Topic Blather was awesome! It really blew up with the displaced Hissyfitters. It kind of bugged that they weren't willing to entertain any suggestions to keep it going (people volunteered to help moderate, or donate money). Wing just said "No. It's going away, and we're not telling you why. Drop it."

When TWOP shut down their Off Topic Blather section, a handful of posters created a new OTB board which is still going on YUKU. There are a good handful of original TWOP OTB posters still there discussing life on a daily basis.

I have to admit I've enjoyed reading the farewell from the staff posts. It's been kind of fun catching up with old recappers who dropped out of sight. One I would have liked to hear from was Deborah, who recapped Trading Spaces and Joan of Arcadia. I always like her recaps and wondered where she went after TWoP.
