I also can't see spending thousands of dollars on a dress either. Guess that bride gene is missing in me too. Me, too. I get that Kleinfeld's is an upscale store, but I can't remember the last time I saw a bride go in there with a budget of less than $3,000. It seems like most of them spend at least $5,000! Yeah, I think I'll probably elope too.

The other style I'm perplexed by is the strapless dresses that seem to have no lining at the top so top is fairly see through. It almost looks like lingerie. The bottom part of the dress is usually pretty poofy. The Pnina Tornai gown - I think it looks so trashy! What I really find weird is that they only get to try on three dresses. I guess that policy cuts down on the looky-loos, but still. It is a stripper gown. Who would wear that to your wedding. Maybe if the corset part is lined with something it may make a bride look like she isn't dancing at Scores.

I'm trying to understand why the bride wants to show off their skin at their wedding. I've noticed the brides that chose these gowns think it makes them look sexy. No. Just no. Are you sure there's a policy that only allows three dresses to be tried on? I know I've seen brides try on more than three. Ugh, that woman was horrible. Listen I get that trying on dresses all day isn't anyone's idea of a party but she seemed to resent being there from the beginning. I also agree she was jealous that her sister was getting married and she wasn't. It never fails to amaze me how people will try to spoil someone else's happy occasion because due to pettiness.

Plus Size Gowns - Further proof that just because they make it in one's size doesn't mean one needs to wear it. I'm with everyone else...what's up with the strapless gowns?! Big girls have big...."girls". The chicken dance at the reception would turn into a breast buffet!

Ugh. I remember the mean twin. I would have slapped her. The number of rude family members and so called "friends" who seem to take pleasure in crushing the bride kills me. I'd limit it to 2 people tops who would be honest but nice about it rather than screaming, "it's hideous" when you walk out the room.
My mother and I really, really hate strapless wedding dresses. The brides seem to spend most of the time tugging the dress up and most of them come off looking slutty. The plus size bride in the strapless killed me. Then we had the barely there lingerie dress. I am no prude but most of these folks are getting married in a church!! I would die of embarrassment. For some of the women it just seems their mission to fit the tightest, lowest cut dress they can lay their hands on and their parents look on and weep. My mother would order me back to the dressing room.
I saw one a few weeks ago where the bride was at another wedding and saw a dress she just had to have. I think it was a Pnina Tornay. The dress was a big puffy brown number and it retailed for around $24k. Her parents ended up buying her the floor model which had torn lace for the bargain price of around $15k as the bride just had to have it. For one dress for one day!!

You can identify the assholes in the bride's entourage before you even meet them, because usually the bride says something to the effect of "And I brought so-and-so because I know they'll be honest with me if something doesn't look good!" with a nervous laugh. There was one girl who brought her two friends, the latter of which was such an obnoxious hosebeast (I know, this could be every episode, right?). One of the "I just tell the truth and I'm very honest with my opinions" types. Honey, no. It doesn't make you honest, it makes you a bitch. The girl would try on dresses and her face would light up, and as soon as she walked out to the mirror her friend would be like "Oh, no. Definitely not. It doesn't do anything for me. I don't like it." Finally the consultant was like, "Well, it's not your wedding, is it?"
Damn, this show is addicting.

My dress was $400 and I felt bad paying that much! (But it was damn gorgeous! And strapless, but with awesome boning so it fit well and had beading in leaf patterns!)
I watched an ep at the gym today where the MOM was the bitch. The daughter would come out and the mom would be 'That's it?' or 'You like that?' and she kept making comments to the camera like 'Well, it's her day, I just want to make sure she chooses something she looks good in' and the classic 'What, did they expect me to get all weepy when I saw my daughter in a wedding dress? My 37 year old daughter? Saying 'my baby'?' Yeah, she was a bitch and Keisha was the consultant and had some choice words for her.

That Pnina Tornai gown is so hideous and I have no idea why it was so popular. When the show first started it seemed like so many women had to have that dress.
Does anyone remember the episode with Bernadette? She found problems with every single gown that was shown to her and by the end of the episode we find out she had a dress from somewhere else (and I thought it was kinda ugly). She nearly drove the poor consultant and the floor manager crazy.

At the end the daughter said she didn't want to purchase anything just yet and she'd think about it. And the mother goes "That's typical of her." "Its typical" because the mother probably spent her whole life putting down her daughter's decisions. So of course the daughter doesn't trust her own decisions! I admit I'm projecting a bit. I love my mother to bits, but we had that same issue. My solution? I made my decisions without her. Eventually she came to realize that if she wanted to be part of my life in a really meaningful way that she'd have to take it easy on her opinions and me. It wasn't easy, but it made life much more pleasant - for the both of us!

My parents got married on the cheap and her aunt made her a dress (it had sleeves and was very simple) as her wedding present to her. The most expensive dress I've ever gotten was when I was in my brothers wedding, it cost me $200 plus $150 for alterations. And I thought that was way too much to spend on a dress I was only going to wear once. The thought of dropping thousands of dollars on one dress is mind-boggling to me, and the thought that so many people consider that normal is even more mind-boggling.
