I just read the latest one and it was pretty bad. At this point there is so much backstory there is only room for one new character in every novel so you know right away who the bad guy is. The only good thing was that Lucy apparently underwent a personality transplant that rendered her a much more readable character. I sort of get the feeling that there might be a Lucy spinoff in the works.

It's a little creepy that Patricia Cornwall's plastic surgery has slowly morphed her into her own heroine.

Totally. And when she keeps on harping on about how Kay is so perfect at everything she does - and still manages to rub up everyone the wrong way - you have to wonder how much she is writing about Kay and how much is actually about her own imagined image of self. The problem isn't me, it's them!

So, I just went to google the story about Cornwell stalking Jodie Foster and walked into a world of crazy. From what I can gather a lot of people hate Cornwell and she is being accused of various things on the web: being pals with Dubya, stalking married women to make them sleep with her, terrorising Jews (yeah! wtf?), stalking Jodie Foster, and suing everyone in sight. The latter includes Google who have had to take down one of the articles about Cornwell stalking Jodie Foster. How weird.

Yep. She published a book about it a few years ago.

A book without a single logical thread of thought. I read it and still can't say why she says that painter was Jack the Ripper, except that because she thinks so.

I recently watched a documentary on National Geographic, and experts there were even more astonished than me re that ridiculous book, so I think I'm in good company.

Patricia won a $50 million lawsuit against her former financial advisers. Ouch! Wonder if she'll see any of it though.
