My husband, Bil, and I had a (horrible) Sunny in Philly moment when we misheard that it was being cancelled. "Oh, greaaat. Goddamn it, I love that show!" [/supreme selfishness.] Then we caught ourselves, talked about what assholes we are, and sent out healing thoughts. Please tell me we weren't the only ones.

You can leave well-wishes for Andy here. Lesley-Ann Brandt is planning on taking the well-wishes to Andy when she visits him next week. Andy has stated before the well-wishes he received the first time around were extremely comforting and inspiring. I have a feeling he could use some comfort and inspiration right now!

New Spartacus, Liam McIntyre. I'm going to miss Whitfield, but I'm glad they chose to do a second season - I want to find out what happens to the characters. They did a great job casting the first season and I'm hoping McIntyre will turn out to be a good choice. The first episode of the prequel just aired. It's crazy how happy I was to see Batiatus, Lucretia and all the rest again, when a year ago I didn't expect this show to be worth anything. It looked like a cheap 300 ripoff and ended up featuring the most entertaining schemes and backstabs since Dynasty.

Oh yeah, I forgot we had a thread on Spartacus!
I liked the first episode. It was weird seeing Crixus and Ashur being friends (well...sort of). And Crixus with long hair! He looked almost unrecognizable.

Liam McIntyre does resemble Andy which might make it a bit easier to suspend belief. I'm definitely going to miss Andy's portrayal but I'm willing to give Liam a chance. I read an interview Liam gave after his casting was announced and I thought he had a good attitude about this whole situation.
The first prequel episode was pretty solid. It was odd to see Batty and Solonius being BFFs and to see Crixus with hair. Am I the only one who thought the current champion and Oenomaus's wife have things for each other? She definitely cares about Oenomaus but she I thought I saw some definite eye screwing there. Lucretia finds screwing gladiators icky. Can't wait to see what changes her mind there!

Batboy found this on the PVR and started watching, FFing through the sex scenes (not sure if that was for my benefit - I was in the kitchen - or if he truly just wanted to get to the fighting.) Made for a short show for him.
So glad this is back. Glad to have the prequel because, while I'm interested in seeing what happens with Spartacus, I loved Battiatus and Lucretia.
