Wait, where was the sex scene with John Hannah? How did I miss that?

Not yet, I think it's in the next few episodes.
I enjoyed the ripplefest, but the slow-mo gore was a bit much for me. Still, my husband and I will watch it if Xena gets nekkid.

Netflix will stream new episodes of Spartacus 2 days (I believe after they air). They do the same for Legend of the Seeker. I am psyched. Won't have to find other means of viewing.

As much of a fan of stylized violence and manflesh as I am, I just can't bring myself to rave about this show. The performers are all grasping for a gravitas which simply doesn't exist in the material. You can sum up each episode's plot in a single sentence: "everyone's doing pretty-much what they did in the last episode."

I tried to get into this but all I ended up doing was shutting it off and putting on my Rome season one dvds.

I think it may get repetitive after a while, but after Gladiator and 300, I gotta say....I'm helpless when it comes to seeing men's thighs in those loincloth getups. The plot is secondary.

Yeah, it's kind of a low-rent 300/Rome cross, the script isn't great, and half the actors aren't either. But for once I don't particularly care. Bring on the hotness! eta: I read somewhere that Craig Parker (aka Haldir) is bisexual. Fun for all! He is quite delicious.

Man, I am kicking myself that I didn't realize it was Haldir. I'm usually pretty good at figuring that stuff out. I knew he seemed familiar, but I thought it was more because his character and speech patterns reminded me so much of Tom Hollander's in POTC 2 & 3.
My husband and I watched episode one on Netflix streaming, and I think the intent is there, but the stylized blood and obvious green screen shots really took us both out of it. I don't know if it's sustainable to watch slow motion violence and blood gushing over the course of a whole TV series. If the story is good, why do all that? I felt like it slowed things down more than anything, instead of getting the heart pumping through actual drama and suspense and action.
And this is just a pet peeve of mine, but WHY do researchers for movies and shows set in ancient Rome and/or Greece never paint the damn marble busts? They were painted in their time, people! They're only white now because they are so old!

Craig Parker and Andy Whitfield would be the bread in my fantasy Spartacus sandwich. Delish.

We really wanted to like this but the gore got to be too much. The first time animated blood splattered the camera lens, it was shocking. The fiftieth time? Just gross and boring. I won't be tuning in again.
