I saw Thor last night and he has about ten seconds screentime in it. I was all "weird, that actor has the same scruncy little face as Jeremy Renner" but after checking IMDB it is Jeremy. I wonder if his part was cut because I can't imagine why he'd sign up for a soldier #4 bit part.

Because it isn't just a random soldier # 4 part, it's a cameo as Hawkeye, who will go on to feature more heavily The Avengers film featuring every Marvel Superhero in recent films (RDJ as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, etc). In the comic mythos, he and the Black Widow/ScarJo have a love affair, which I believe is being kept in as a subplot.

I admire his talent as an actor, but as a go-to action hero? (Bourne reboot, Captain America, etc.) He's not exactly a heart-throb. (Although I acknowledge "your mileage may vary.")

The cliche reads "men want to be him, women want to fuck him." Not feeling it for Mr. Renner. But I'm willing to be surprised, because he's a talented actor and he may convince me otherwise.

He's a lot better looking in person, not movie-star gorgeous by any means but not ugly either. I didn't get close enough to him to judge his height though.

I don't know, I think he is uber-hot in the same way Daniel Craig is: not traditionally handsome in that cookie-cutter way that Hollywood and the media in general shoves down our throats, but in that "exudes so much confidence and sexual magnetism through every single pore" kind of way that makes me go weak in the knees. Or maybe I just like "ugly guys". But I would rather enjoy "his company" than that of any of the pretty boys like Chris Evans, Paul Walker, Henry Cavill et al.

I agree that Renner is one of those actors that doesn't look great in still shots or candids, but who really brings it when he's in a movie. James McAvoy is the same for me, and Leonardo diCaprio.

I think the McQueen biopic is fitting, since I think they have a bit of the same Daniel Craig rugged jolie-laide (ugly-hot) thing going on. (granted, I've never seen a McQueen movie, just stills. P.S. - Check the archives of endowments thread, folks. There's an awesome pic somewhere of him nonchalantly pissing that's really hot to me in his "fuck whatever, dude" anti-authority demeanor).

Obviously, someone's personal life is their business, but, dear lord, if he is gay, please let him come out after MI4/Bourne and before Avengers. Seriously, nothing would shut down idiotic bros homophobia and stupid outdated gender/sexuality stereotypes faster than having:
The next Jason Bourne.
The next Ethan Hunt.
Hawkeye.
And the dude playing Steve McQueen, pretty much the IDEAL of masculinity back in the day.

Come out. It would be so the opposite of Tom "HERE'S MY BEARD! I DO ALL MY OWN STUNTS!" Cruise. Fools saying "that's so gay!" would be shut down so fast. It would be AMAZING for a little gay kid out there in Smalltown, Opressivevile to be able to point to a FUCKING SUPERHERO rather than Woobie Kurt on Glee and be able to say "that's who I can grow up to be."
