By rage music, I mean the music you play when you're really, really pissed off and it's time to either play the tunes that help you channel your animosity or...do something less constructive with it.
I like Eminem for this kind of cathartic release, or Smashing Pumpkins. Sometimes the louder songs by R.E.M.

Nine Inch Nails "Head Like a Hole." Smashing Pumpkins "Bullet With Butterfly Wings." Silverchair "Anthem for the Year 2000." Alanis Morrissette "You Oughta Know," of course. Any music that makes me feel righteous.

Ben Folds Five "Song for the Dumped." Works for me for any anger causing situation, including the day when I found out Arrested Development had gotten canceled.

"Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit was made for this thread. I know Fred Durst is a douchenozzle, but I blast this song when I'm in one of those moods where all I want to do is punch someone in the face and I know that I can't. It makes me feel better.

For years it was Ministry's Psalm 69 album. Especially "New World Order".

The Beatles' "Revolution" works. Irvana's "About a Girl" -- the accoustic version -- is fantastic, too, because the rage feels soooo just barely contained.

I also like The Offspring for Those Dark Times. "Self Esteem" is nice and loud and cleansing.
